Rush - Power Windows. Yep I like that one .To me its dynamic and stirring rock/prog.To others its an horrid eighties abomination.Second place would be Genesis 'And Then There Were Three' which I also like a lot.And must also mention ELP's 'Pictures At An Exhibition'....I'll get my coat then

I like the final RENAISSANCE album "Time-Line". Very eighties production
(and cover!), but some excellent compositions.

Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity
(I absolutely love this album! "Lines In The Sand" and "Trial Of Tears"
more than make up for "You Not Me" and "Take Away My Pain")
Dream Theater - When Dream And Day Unite
(I don't see what's wrong with it. The only song I don't like is "The
Ones Who Helped To Set The Sun". But "Only A Matter Of Time" is
amazing, and I actually like Dominici's voice just as much as LaBrie's)
Rush - Hold Your Fire (It has
some great songs like "Force Ten", Time Stand Still" and "Turn The
Page". It's kind of poppy and different than their older stuff, but no
worse, in my opinion)
*By the way, this pretty much goes for all of Rush's albums
that's about all I can think of at the moment

Genesis trio, Yes with Rabin, Love Beach are natural choices, I hate late Genesis as well, but I think Rabin Yes was Ok, 2-3 star albums.
Another one some people love to hate is Trout Mask Replica, which I love

Land of Cockayne, although it is not a proper Softs album. I also like
Abacab and other early 80s Genesis material. Actually, I think
Invisible Touch was my first Genesis album!

No, I dont have any album that is that hated really...thought I do not like at all an album which most fans of the genre like pretty much...Rush´s Counterparts...awful!
|
Couldn't agree more!
Aside from their first effort, Counterparts is the RUSH album I like the least.

I have always liked:
Yes - Union & Talk (only one of their albums i can't listen to is 'Open your eyes'..that is dreadful)
Genesis - ALL their 80's & 90's albums
Pink Floyd - Atom heart mother, Momentary lapse and Division bell
Rush - I love 'Hold your fire' also, I believe it is one of their best
IQ - I always liked 'Are you sitting comfortably'...great album!

ELP's 'Brain Salad Surgery' - nr.47 in the prog top 100
I know many people who hate this album(and to make things worse, they completely hate ELP)
But now serious:
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

The good songs from post-Hackett Genesis make two or three good albums.
Down and Out, Burning Rope, Deep in the Motherlode, The Lady Lies, Behind the Lines, Duchess, Guide Vocal, Man of Our Times, Duke's Travels, Duke's End, Me and Sara Jane, Dodo-Lurker, Mama, That's All, Home by the Sea, Second Home by the Sea, Silver Rainbow, Tonight Tonight Tonight, Land of Confusion, Domino, The Brazillian, No Son of Mine, Dreaming While You Sleep, Driving the Last Spike, Fading Lights, The Dividing Line.
Sure, not as good as the stuff that came before, but leaving out the sappy love songs and eighties cheese there was still some shining moments there.
As for Yes, I really can't get into Big Generator at all. They just went too deep into synthy eightees cheese with that one. But Talk was pretty good. And Union actually grew on me.
As for ELP, I like some of Love Beach and a lot of Black Moon, but aside from Pictures at an Exhibition, In the Hot Seat sucks.
King Crimson's weakest album is probably Beat. But I'll take that over the worst albums from most other bands.
I love everything Pink Floyd ever released as well. I don't think they ever had a bad album.
As for Jethro Tull, they kind of lost me after Heavy Horses. Some moments of Brilliance, but it isn't my cup of tea.

I think some of the latter Marillion-works is excellent. I understand that many people signed off Marillion when the big fish left the building, but my opinion is that they were good before, and are good now.

I think Tormato had some very strong tracks on it, namely On the Silent
Wings of Freedom and Release, Release. Madrigal is also very beautiful,
as I love the use of harpsichord.
