Tyranny is an absolutely amazing album. It's full of stunning melodies and brilliant musicianship. Comparing it to I&W ... I love both, so I simply won't do that!

I&W has the honoralbe 1st place cuz it brought me into the prog world... But Tyranny is probably one of my all time favs now... Tomorow I'll get 2 learn Room V!!!!

Hello again, dears. Thank to all of you, who ignited some life on my post.
Obviously, I also love all three bands, but at this time I think OPETH had the better "evolution"; I listened randomly to some old songs of theirs, and they were pretty weak, IMO; they got much better with the last three CDs.
Porcupine Tree are also favourites here, now they are playing with that heavier edge that previous material was missing (but it was good nonetheless); also PT are evoluting in this way, even if the new sound doesn't appeal to everyone of us...
DT is the weak link here (sorry...! ) They are not doing evolution, they go like "ok, heavier album now" and "mellow album next time"; it's not evolution, it's only choice of tempos and guitar sounds...
I listened to FII last week after a loooong time, and it's not bad at all, but it is radically different from every other release by DT; so, we can say that, at the time, that WAS evolution... Wether in a bad or a good way, this has to be different for everyone of us.
Am I awfully wrong?

Ok, I have two choices for shower time:
1) put TYRANNY on the stereo and bang my head against the wall while listening to it, or
2) sing the whole of I&W in the shower by myself, at the top of my 1/2 octave vocal range...
Please, discuss...

I see what you mean about evolution, but I disagree with you about Opeth. The first four albums of theirs had much better music than anything they did after. The only weak thing about them is production, but if you don't count, they kick all sorts of ass you can imagine.
