Definitely! I'm planning on starting a tribute thread to Tangerine Dream sometime soon where I'll go right back to where it all began with Electronic Meditation, although it might take me several years to listen to and feature all of Tangerine Dream's gazillion albums. It should be a fun ride though. I'll see you there.  By pure coincidence, I've been Rocking Out the Bats with TD in Berlin again tonight, having rediscovered it recently for Logan's Favourite Concerts thread.

It's no surprise that Tangerine Dream came to dominate this thread, so I thought it was about time they had a tribute thread of their own.

I read today that Michael Hoenig once toured with Tangerine Dream in Australia in 1975 as a replacement for Peter Baumann, and also, I discovered that Michael Hoenig is listed on ProgArchives, so with that in mind, I'll feature his albums in my Tangerine Dream thread.

Yes I have. I'm not familiar with Harmonia, Heldon & Czeslaw Niemen - so no surprise there - but I will soon by very familiar with all of Michael Hoenig's eight albums.

Hi, The saddest thing of all is that Linda Spa has not been involved in anything else that we are aware of, and it's not listed anywhere. Makes one think that she just went home to get married and have kids, unsatisfied that she could not stay in TD since one guy doesn't like women and thinks he is the son of Froese ... instead of Jerome, who refused to be a part of the 2nd rate TD since Edgar's passing due to the lack of vision and articulate musicianship rather than just mechanics! Still nice, but nowhere near the quality of the earlier stuff, and DEFINITELY, the live shows with Linda and Iris were incredible and far out ... and deserve a lot more credit than they are given ... not to mention that the innovation of the old stuff in this new style fit really well and was constructed beautifully! I imagine that some credit of this is to Linda and her abilities as an arranger and composer, herself, and someone that probably had a good idea of what could be done with a piece of music, instead of just remaining on a riff, or a sound. |

Hi, I have to recheck, but I think that Michael was a part of the same folks that were together in Berlin in the very early days, so he would not have been unfamiliar with TD or how they used their instruments. A natural replacement, however temporary it was to be, which I'm sure that Michael made his stand clear ... he was already busy on his own, and I do not think he wanted his name in the middle of TD albums or compositions.

I expect Michael Hoenig realised there's a lot more money to be made as a solo artist scoring soundtracks in Los Angeles (just like Chris Franke & Paul Haslinger) instead of being part of a trio, even if it's a very successful trio.
