The British press were making fun of him and saying how the balloon has now burst for Hamilton; typical of our lack of support for our sportsmen.  The fact that this was the first race of the season where he wasn't on the PODIUM didn't seem to figure.  As far as they're concerned the fact that he wasn't on the podium this time means that he's no good.  Funnily enough he still finished the race; even after that horrendous crash in practice and he is still LEADING the championship.  Not bad for a rookie and I'm sure that he'll be on the podium again before the season is over.

Shame about Raikkonen's car.  He really doesn't have much luck; but then I remember the same problems with Keke Rosberg and car reliability.  I think that the Finnish style of driving is more aggressive and takes more out of the cars mechanically.

You have to be kidding...after 9 straight podiums (including 2 wins) to start his ROOKIE year, and they said all that.   A little fickle dont you think?
And I started to wonder that about Kimi. Why does he always have such bad luck? I never thought you could be too agressive with an F1 car, but I guess so.

Our press is notorious (sp?) for that. As for Kimi, I dont think so, the electronic systems on F1 cars are so complex these days that they have fail safes making it almost impossible to over stress the car, what you normally see is failures relate to these electronics, like hydrolics and the seamless-shift gearboxes. I reckon he's just got Barichellos luck instead of Michaels.

Forgot to mention in my previous post, excellent move by Alonso on Massa and I think its now official that Massa is now  completely useless in the wet.

Interesting qualy, Ferrari dont seem to be all that fast, Massa especially, and I guess its going to be McvLaren domination. Alonso was a bit naughty, held up Hamilton in the pits with the result that Alonso had one last lap and got pole whilst Hamilton couldnt start a final flying lap before the chequer, and he was definitely faster. McLaren will have to be carfull with these two now.

Apparantly the stewards werent to happy with what happened at McLaren and so Alonso will start 6th tomorrow and McLaren wont be allowed to score manufacturer points, but they're going to appeal the last part..

Hamilton dominates....but Kimi was always right behind. So, major kudos for out cooling the ice man.

Although you have to wonder if Alonso should be in his place...
Heidfeld pulled out a podium finish, and a good race for Ralf.

Hamilton has the championship in his pocket now (unless McLaren team thinks the opposite). Weary of supporting the fast but irregular Massa, I'll go with Hamilton from now.

Tense race. I think McLaren have it this year, but I wouldnt bet on which of their drivers gets it. Kimi is too far behind and Massa beginning to get overshadowed by the other three.

I hope McLaren win their appeals, the stewars shouldnt have penalised the team at all, and they have already proved that the stolen Ferrari documents were never used in the design of any part of their car, and Caughlin will probably never work in motorsport  again.

^Agreed.

And I wouldn't say Hamilton has it in his pocket, but it is looking better every race.
Alonso is the only one who has a real shot at the title now.
If Alonso beats him by 2 points a race he can still catch him, and obviously a lower finish or DNF can swing it right to Fernando.
Very exciting year

Problem for McLaren is that the next two tracks (Istanbul and Spa) are both suited to the Ferrari more than their car, so I doubt this championship is done just yet.

True, but I don't know. Just the way theyve been running so far, I just don't see Kimi or Felipe making it.
However, I really think it is a tossup between the McLaren drivers.

It was a very exciting race, the last laps were great, Kimi did a great job but it was not enough to overtake Hamilton, back there Fernando was behind Heidfield but he could not reach him as well, nice battles!

Heidfield has been driving really good, i would really love to see him winning a race, though it is very difficult.

Great season indeed, hope a closer championship battle in the next races, let´s see if both Ferrari´s drivers can win in the next races.

I just read in a local newspaper that Alonso´s future in McLaren uncertain, seems that he is not happy anymore due to all the problems and tension McLaren has, also i read that Lewis had a discussion with Ron Dennis.

I hope those problems wont affect the team and his drivers at the end of the season.

Interesting. Of course it's hypothetical but if he left McLaren what team do you think would take him? Unless something crazy happens I can't imagine him going to Ferrari.

^Pat Simonds has already said Renault would take Alonso back in a heartbeat, but I dont think McLaren are ready to give him up just yet.

D'oh! How could I not have thought about Renault. Makes sense to me, but I'd also be pretty surprised to see him go back to Renault. And I hope your right...I would never give up Alonso.

I heard the same thing today´s morning, things are tense inside McLaren, Ron Dennis says that Fernando has the doors open and he could leave at the end of the season, if he leaves then i think he would be back in Renault.

In other news, Bourdais will jump (at last) to F1 next year with Toro Rosso, a very weak team but he is a good driver, hi will replace Liuzzi and be Vettel´s team-mate

To be honest I wouldnt be surprised to see Alonso jump ship after this year, I have the feeling that if they're partnered for another year the relationship betweeen Alonso and Hamilton will go the way of Prost and Senna. Its never a good idea to have two incredible talants both working well at the same team, I cant think of a time that it has truly worked in the last 20 odd years.

As for Bourdais, I feel sory for him (and Vettel) having to work with Tost and Berger, they have badly mismanaged and undermined their current drivers, constantly letting them know that they arent wanted, good luck to them.
