I've been listening to The Ocean, and I feel the vocals are a little weak unfortunatly :(.

As much as I'm trying to get into them, Rosseta uses vocals way to much, I wanna hear some good post metal, not twelve minuetes of yelling/screaming on red tooth and claw!

I have this same quarrel with them. However, The Galilean Satellites was definitely a better album than Wake/Lift. I just love how they absolutely worship reverb. Their sound is so huge!

^^^ I need to listen to The Galilean Satellite. Wake / Lift didn't do much for me, to be honest. Hopefully I'll get it for Christmas along with Sigur Ros' Heima and others.

Really? I thought they where quite normal for Post-Metal.

Honestly, Rosetta took a few listens for me to get into. At first they seemed ordinary, then I didn't like the presence of the vocals, but eventually I just gave into how incredibly epic their sound is. Their sound is more expansive than any other band in the genre IMO. Also, I listened to Precambrian all the way through today. HOLY FREAKIN CRAP IT ROCKS. that's all for now.

I'm gonna devote my night to precambrian tonight.
I will also give Rosseta a couple more listens, even though I have the seemingly weaker album wake/lift.

They're not 100% post-metal, but does anyone know Primordial? They're an Irish band and their newest album is amazing! Very closely related to the genre, though not as influenced by hardcore as most other bands in the genre, and are more atmosphreric than many in the genre. They're kind of the other side of the spectrum as Intronaut, who are related to post-metal but influenced by hardcore more than a lot of bands in the genre.

Thats my favirote kind of post metal, highly atmospherical.
Whats going on? Precambrian is pretty much Rosseta, but a little heavier, and non stop harsh vocals! Come on guys, I trusted you with this one!
Actually, I am on the fourth song right now, so I guess I need to go completely through it before I say that, it certainly dosent like it's gonna change though.

Primordial are actually a Black Metal band with slight folk elements. I think it can be quite similar at times the shoegazer influences of Post-Metal and the Black Metal atmosphere. I haven't heard their latest album yet so maybe they did really turned post-metal... Great band nonetheless! As for The Ocean... The first time I listened to it I was blown away! But after the third listen I'd say its a 3 star album. Still, for a "Post-metal band" (I don't think this album is post-metal...) it's very unique.

Every song to me was just a less poppy kind of hardcore song. I will give it a couple more listens before I start bashing it.
Explosions in the sky, good?

^^^ Very Good. The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place is a pivotal album in the Post-Rock genre. Very simple, clear and melodic. I can't say much about their other releases, though. Their latest was decent, but nothing more.

Are you talking about Precambrian??
Did you, um, listen to the 2nd disc? It's totally different from the songs on the first disc. While I agree that this album isn't really "post-metal", it definitely falls in a similar category.... it's definitely progressive sludge metal of some kind.
The vocals are not non-stop by any means, and they're not always harsh either. This is a really original and quite fantastic record.

Sorry GS, but I honestly quit listening halfway through the second disk, barely progressive IMO.

Anyone heard of Tusk?
I was listening to their album The Resisting Dreamer and liked it quite a bit.

I don't hate, I "meh" I'll admit the second disc was a lot better than the first, I might try it again because by the second disc my patience was wearing very thin...the first disc sounded like the b*****d child of Mastodon, Gojira, and Meshuggah, with somehow more annoying vocals than all three combined
