They dont, in reality the only real way to reduce costs is to impose a budget cap, otherwise teams are just going to spend what they have, which is as much as £300 million+ a year.

But 4 wheel drive, traction controle, 5 race engines and a massive reduction on all non-drivetrain technolgy will put the sport solely at the mercy of the manufacturers.Thumbs%20DownAngry

It is sad. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsports....it dosn't seem so anymore.

The car is important, but now the driver has almost no imput. And those F1 engineers are amazing, if there's a way to make an engine last FIVE weeks and not lose any power....they'll figure it out.

I'll post this here since is bot fun and racing related. This weekend Bucharest hosts an in-city racing event, something very special as in-city circuits are very rare. The GT3 race today had a special guest - check out the video here: http://www.autof1.ro/index/Un_ciine_a_reusit_sa_intre_pe_pi.html

I watched the FIA GT race live here, fantastic race won by the Suduria Playteam Maserati MC12, even if it did piss down with rain.

Good event and the track is definitely one of the better street tracks that I've come across (they're not that rare in the states) and the Parlimentory palace made for quite a backdrop, but there was a lot of crashes throughout the weekend, some people really needed to calm down.

One stupid guy made the poor dog returns to the lane... Confused

What happened in the end, Andu? I could understand almost all the text but the dog's fate after the race isn't explained.

The site says the dog found his way out by himself (he probably found the place where he originally entered the track) while the amused spectators were applauding his efforts. Poor dog... but poorer logistics.

I didn't know the race is such an important event; years ago when I had a TV set I was familiar with the F1 but nothing more, so I didn't expect a GT3 race can get global coverage. Tickets were very expensive and the weather was bad, otherwise I would have attended the event. I read about the accidents due to the wet track, but also I read that there were problems also because the quality of the asphalt; the pilots said there were bumps and also sewer vents are visible in the video.
The only other street track I know is that of Monte-Carlo, but that's because I'm only aware of the F1 stuff, as I said. Monte-Carlo is always spectacular, one of my favourites. Maybe the best race I can ever remember was a Senna vs. Nigel Mansell duel at Monte-Carlo, in the early 90s; unfortunately I don't remember who won.

I dont know if FIA GT's and GT3 gets global coverage, but its certainly a series on the rise after a very poor '06, and better TV coverage is something that was promised, and delivered, for this year.

Street tracks tend to be very bumpy and drivers are always complaining about this, but it didnt seem like Bucharest was worse than anywere else ( I remember a Champ Car race in Miami a few years ago, the track was extremely bumpy and one bump in particular was nicknamed the "ski jump" as the cars would get two or more wheels in the air!).

I know the race your on about, Monaco '92, Senna won from Mansel in a very tough fight.

Round up: http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=39342
It appears that Hamilton has made the first mistake of his F1 career, crashing at turn 1, St Devote, trying to go faster than Alonso. Bound to happen some time, at least it wasnt in a race.

Cry Hamilton is NOT perfect after all...
J/K  of course, even MS made mistakes.
I can't wait for this race, I love Monaco. I know it's slow, has no overtaking, and is not exactly the safest track....but I just think it's amazing.

Hamilton is overrated and as yet not tested as a driver. The car he drives could be driven just as well by an elephant with it's trunk and legs tied behind it's back.

Well, it is a bit soon to say overrated dont you think?
And what about MS and Ferarri? No one doubts his talent, but couldn't anyone have been put into his cars, and be successful?

Congratulations for proving how ignorant of Formula 1 you are, you are clearly forgetting that he is leading the championship in the second fastest car with a double world champion as his team mate. Yes, the press is going crazy over him and all the ex-champions coming out of the woodwork to proclaim him the best talant they have ever seen is getting tiresome, but its beginning to look like they might be right.

Now here's tomorrows grid:

1.  ALONSO         Mclaren

2.  HAMILTON       McLaren

3.  MASSA          Ferrari
4.  FISICHELLA     Renault

5.  ROSBERG        Williams

6.  WEBBER         Red Bull
7.  HEIDFELD       BMW

8.  KUBICA         BMW

9.  BARRICHELLO    Honda

10. BUTTON         Honda

11. WURZ           Williams
12. LIUZZI         Toro Rosso

13. TRULLI         Toyota

14. KOVALAINEN     Renault

15. RAIKKONEN      Ferrari
16. COULTHARD      Red Bull
17. DAVIDSON       Super Aguri

18. SPEED          Toro Rosso

19. SUTIL          Spyker

20. SCHUMACHER     Toyota
21. SATO           Super Aguri

22. ALBERS         Spyker

As I suspected, the McLaren is a better suited car to Monaco than the Ferrari, it will either be Hamilton or Alonso that win tomorrow IMO.

Ah missed qualifying. I'd say Hamlton will win (but I always do). He has a really good shot though.

Well, after seeing Alonso on pole I had a feeling he'd be tough to beat.

My congrats goes to Giancarlo, Kubica, and Wurz (for their 4th, 5th, and 7th place finishes). And a rare look of dissapointment at Kimi. He may have gotten that one point, but he should not have been down so far to begin with....
