PAIN OF SALVATION — Scarsick
Review by kentavros (Stavros) Alot won't understand it Alot will critisize it But for those who appreciate a testimony of thoughts by one of the biggest genius in our time in music will see the agony of the man about the future of all of us. Progressivness to its limit.Anger and suddness. The agony of what a human being is. Have we lost our goal in life? Questions that seek answer. And the vehicle to that is music.Rage for order of 2007? At least few understood that record then. The same will happen here. If you're reviewing an album that isn't OUT yet, I think the goal would be to try to clarify for other people who haven't heard that album yet what it sounds like... but this review just says "I'm smart, you aren't; I COULD UNDERSTAND the lyric subject matter of Scarsick, MOST PEOPLE WON'T". And about the MUSIC? ZERO. Zero comments about the music. Just a "I know a lot" review.... It doesn't help nor serves any purpose for people who want to read a good opinion about an album that ISNT OUT YET. Edited by The T - December 12 2006 at 13:38 |

Not much about music. http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=102834 Not much about music also. EDIT: there are several short reviews by FloydFree which don't say much. Edited by Tuzvihar - December 12 2006 at 17:05 |

YES — Close to the Edge
Review by FloydFree This is a solid Yes album, but I have to say that it is definitely overrated. I love Siberian Khatru but Close to the Edge and And You And I don't do anything for me. This a good album, but definitely not worthy of being rated #1 on all of progarchives.com. I would recommend Fragile over Close to the Edge to a prog fan trying to get into Yes. Posted Tuesday, December 12, 2006, 17:01 EST | Permanent link Not a good review IMO, citing its position in the PA charts. |

PINK FLOYD — Animals
Review by FloydFree After 'Dark Side', my favourite Pink Floyd album. Like the searing guitar riffs, animal sound effects, and the general pace of this. 'Dogs' has some memorable lyrics: 'you'll pack up fly down South, hide your head in the sand, just another sad old man, all alone, and dying of cancer'. I always think of the actor Steve McQueen at that point, who 3 years later (1980) headed desperately to a clinic in Mexico in search of a cancer cure, but sadly wasn't (died there). The line 'and when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown'. For those of us with revenge fantasies, what a great line. And what did he say about album and it's music? Maybe 68 characters in total...

This is a 5 partly because it needs to be higher on the list (I've heard all the albums in
between) and mostly because it's amazing. The whole band works great together and
McLaughlin is an expert guitarist. Just about every song is amazing Grrrrr.... I like the album, but this is not the way. Edited by Angelo - December 13 2006 at 16:40 |

Posted 10:56:37 PM EST, 12/1/2006 Being number 1 on the progarchives I, er.. bought it with high expectations. I was thoroughly disappointed. It was strangely reminiscent of Pop music, as in no talent and no good music/sound. I only suggest Man Machine if you like to hear "beep boop" for 36 minutes. With bad lyrics and music made into a drone, i only suggest it for heavy drug users. I give it a 2 because it's bad music but the fans seem to like it.
Probably only needs the "no-talent" bit edited out.

---------------- 5 - Do not voice general opinions on matters such as whether a band/album/sub-genre should be included in the site, whether you agree with the star rating system, etc.. Such matters should be discussed in the forum. Keep the review pertinent to the specific album concerned. The reviews section is NOT the place for initiating or prolonging a debate.

I don't think that rule has been broken in this case. The reviewer is jsut saying that he does not think the album is prog, not that the band should not be on the site.
Feel free to discuss further in the Reviews Discussion thread though, if you wish.

This reviewer admits to have downloaded the album, and currently it's the most recent review on the home page. He makes some good points and I personaly don't mind that he downloaded, since he claimed he'd buy it later, but that's not good advertisement for the first review on the home page.

Too short. He only bashes the album and doesn't explain anything. |
