No, this is not Yes, but it does feature an early appearance by Rick Wakeman. Look out for the paint roller.

I still find it hard to believe that Top of the Pops DJ Steve Wright didn't know the difference between YES and the Strawbs, where the only common denominator is Rick Wakeman.

He was the worst of the BBC Radio 1 DJ's though. There were quite a few in the seventies that were well up on their prog rock but he definitely wasn't one of them! (BTW the first time I heard ELP was when 'The Hairy Cornflake' Dave Lee Travis played Hoedown. That changed my life )

^^ I like Steve Wright - despite him not knowing the difference between Yes and the Strawbs - and I still listen to him occasionally on his BBC Radio 2 afternoon show.
I used to listen to The Hairy Cornflake too, until he famously resigned live on air. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - May 23 2021 at 13:19 |

1973: The Six Wives of Henry VIII 1976: No Earthly Connection and 1975: The Myths and Legends of King Arthur.... - and it's very impressive discography, you've made here, Paul.

Thanks David. Compiling and listening to Rick Wakeman's impressive discography kept me busy for the first three weeks of this year, but it was great fun - apart from having to listen to Rick's bizarre collaboration with Norman Wisdom, obviously.

Rick Wakeman's Live Chronology 1983: Rick Wakeman - Night Music: Live at Pebble Mill Studios, Birmingham - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoIDt_C5y1Lush*tlPxK7Fa3SjduStGr2 Rick's Perspective:- "Back in the early 80s, a wonderful TV series called A Little Night Music, filmed in Birmingham had quite an assortment of musical styles over the weeks that the series ran. The performance was recorded live at Pebble Mill in Birmingham and a small budget was given to me to do some orchestrations for the additional orchestral musicians that were booked to perform with me. A children’s choir was also brought in for Bedtime Stories, but they were perhaps a little too young and brings to mind the well known saying “Never work with children or animals”! Whilst they were very angelic and looked great, trying to get them to sing at the same time proved virtually impossible, but the piece certainly ended up with a lot of charm." Rick Wakeman's Live Chronology 1988: Rick Wakeman - The Word and the Gospels - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoIDt_C5y1LvRntLkqT7ztMe2PpWQ36hP Holy Moses! An all-star cast get together in this television spectacular from the Holy land of Israel, celebrating the life of Christ, and featuring tenor Ramon Remedios (proving that a tenor is worth far more than two fivers) and also featuring the man who once played the part of Jesus Christ himself - Mr. Robert Powell. You don't have to be of a religious persuasion to enjoy this heaven-sent concert, but it certainly helps if you are. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - August 07 2022 at 10:32 |
