Sorry Richochet, I see what you are saying now, I'm off to work now and I will PM him later.

We get so much frivolous reviews reporting these days that I hate to even visit this thread anymore, thanks again.

I think I'm the only one left who will deal with all this anymore, not a dig at the other admins at all, but a reflection on how over used this thread is.

To reiterate (sp again) we are looking for blantant disregard of PA reviews policy, or in the case of Richochet's report, looks like someone accidentally hit the wrong button.

This thread should be actually useful if only real reports were posted. Discussions are to be made in another thread. We get lost amid so much comes and goes and the work to move off-topic posts is painful and useless since they keep coming. Presently some people have preferred the PM instead.

Number Seven
Phideaux Crossover Prog

Review by chdcrwl

5 stars It's about time Progarchives features one of the brightest and most promising young progressive artists of today. Althought previous featured artists were decent at best, they were not quite the leading light that Phideaux is without a doubt. Phideaux represents all of what is great about music in my mind. There are innovative melodic structures and *deceptively* simple musical structures, which make this music of Number Seven the best music of 2009, bar none. Obviously not everyone agrees as, amazingly, there are other artists who are getting more attention these days. But the truly best music is being made way out of the mainstream, far away from music like the Jonas Brothers and Ashley Simpson. Although I have only heard some of their samples, I think its amazing and a little sad that other so called "progressive bands" like Riverside, Maudlin of the Well, Muse and Beardfish (who?) are getting as much attention, because their is no way that music is as good as the music on this new album Number Seven. I guess that proves that there are many people who are not intelligetn enough to appreceate the music of Phideaux. I guess they should go and listen to the Jonas Brothers and Ashley Simpson. Either that or they are just jealous of how talented and inovative Phideaux is. --Chad Crowley

____

Here's a fellow who joined today to provide helpful insights as to why Number Seven is album of the year.

Oh wait, no, Chad Crowley doesn't do that.  He insults other bands and blatantly calls those who dislike the album unintelligent.  This review is clearly against the rules.

Note the ironic abundance of spelling and grammar errors.

I sent him a PM earlier recommending he rewrite and follow the guidelines rather than receive disciplinary action, but we'll see.

I'm leaning towards deleting this review, as pointed out by Rob it does violate PA guidlines and it is obviously from a highly dubious source. I'll wait a bit to see if any admins disagree.

Please hold further discussions about this review in the reviews discussion thread, thank you Logan for the conveniant link.

P.S. I'll save the text for those who might be symathetic to this 'review', so that you can have a copy for yourself.

This is kind of weird. The same review posted twice under two different profiles:

There's a rather interesting fellow named 'amontes' who's been giving some interesting reviews.
He's reviewed most masterpieces as one star, with very poor reviews to back them up...

To make matters more interesting, there are about 40 reviews related to King Crimson and Robert Fripp that are all 'masterpieces.'

Someone check it out?

Thanks Conor, but that really isn't against PA review guidlines, you're pretty much free to like and dislike whatever you want.

This new PFM review is an exact copy of Progweed's Greg Northrup's review linked below.
Unless this Area is a new PA userID for Northrup, but I doubt it.  The name inside doesn't match anyway.  I think the review needs to be deleted.

^ that's interesting, I'll try talking to Area first.

P.S. wild guess here, he stole an English review because he has a hard time writing in English. Does anybody want to contact him in Italian as well?

How interesting, it seems Mr. Sean Trane has written the same review for two different Stormy Six albums Tongue

Ok, i understand he is an honorary collaborator, but how come is he allowed to post a review that includes
this phrase :

How Tool could have followed up Aenima was beyond everyone, but they did it, and they did it fantastically. While Lateralus doesn't quite reach the genius that Aenima did, it's another brilliant addition to the Tool catalogue, and should by checked out by anyone who associates prog metal with pompous trash like Dream Theater.

I really don't appreciate this kind of remark to a respected band like Dream Theater, much more coming from an Honorary Collaborator

Thanks
Dream Theater made me listen to Rush,Yes, ELP, Genesis.. That must count for something!

I think you mean succesfull as opposed to respected. Dream Theater probably attract the most extreme reactions of any prog metal band currently listed on PA. Assuming the reviewer in question was sincere (5 years ago) I can only endorse his misgivings about DT, as like many others I too deem them no more than strutting virtuosos with zero artistic merit or original ideas. It's called freedom of speech matey.

Hey Juan, thanks for your report, but it is not against PA review guidelines to have a strong dislike for a band and express that dislike in a review.
