All on PC:
I got Mass Effect 2 and thought I'd give ME 1 another whirl beforehand to get into the thing.
I found myself quite engrossed this time around (I gave up on it as being boring about 2 years back), and now I've got to a frustrating part, where the initial game section is finished and I'm free to roam on the galaxy map wherever I want. the problem is: wherever I go, I get hammered! Somehow that's put me off ME2 as well which is gathering dust after just being installed for a quick look into.
Oh well, there's always the Anno 1404 expansion that I'm keen to get into.
Apart from that there's aways Borderlands, Prototype, Fallout 3 and TES Oblivion that I'm always having a go on, so I guess that I'm playing all of those. Edited by npjnpj - March 03 2010 at 02:06 |

Loaned from the library. Seems reasonably entertaining, but I'm still doubtful as to whether it'll manage to keep me glued to my seat. I have a tendency to play these games for a few hours, and then forget all about them. Oops.

Does anybody know any games that play similarly to Oblivion for the PS3? I really want some more console based fantasy RPG's.

Closest thing I can think off of the top of my head is Fallout 3, but I think that's more Sci-fi

Fallout 3 is Oblivion with guns. It gets old pretty fast.
None of the games 1up reviewed there are even remotely like Oblivion. Star Ocean 4 and Eternal Sonata are traditional JRPGs with action-oriented battle systems, and White Knight Chronicles is a really really bad JRPG along the same vein. Vandal Hearts and Valkyria Chronicles are turn-based SRPGs (though VC puts an interesting spin on it by having you move and aim yourself). Sacred is a dungeon-crawler, Dragon Age is a PCRPG, and Enchanted Arms is a mess. Rise of the Argonauts and Demon's Souls are third-person action games with RPG elements, though Demon's Souls is much better (and Ninja Gaiden hard). |

Sacred is not a dungeon crawler. It's basically a hack 'n' slash like Diablo 2.
Dragon Age: Origins is damned good. I'd recommend that. Only on PC, not 360 or PS3. Oblivion is horrid. I think even I would prefer Fallout 3 over it and I don't really like games with guns. There's a reason games aren't like Oblivion. That type of game is terrible. Besides, you have Morrowind, which is actually better but still not great. Edited by James - March 04 2010 at 19:53 |

Why do you hate Oblivion so much?
And I had Dragon Age: Origins for PS3 but sold it after about two weeks because I found it boring; all the reviews say the PC build is way more tactical, though. |

DA:O isn't boring. Oblivion is.
I am actually still playing DA:O. I've long since lost the will to live with Oblivion. It's that sucky. |

Haha, I put 300 hours over the course of years into Oblivion finishing everything there was to do. It's a neat little world to enter now and then. 100% damage reflection and 100% chameleon are both funny broken though. Honestly, the combat could use a boatload of work, but the game still looks pretty decent 4 years after its release. I can only imagine in 3 years or so when ES5 comes along. For its time, ES4 looked incredible, and what incredible would mean today just boggles the mind for those of us who grew up thinking Mario 64 looked amazing.
DA:O is a great game on the PC (I gave a short review/rating a few pages back), though I'd imagine it's just not the same on console. Commands don't work the same, and I don't know if you can even enter proper isometric battlefield view. I also heard the graphics were weaker on the console versions, which is a sore disappointment: while the characters looked excellent, the environments left room for improvement on the PC, and further degradation simply could not bode well. As for Sacred, I call Diablo a dungeon crawler. Hack-n-slash means Golden Axe or Gauntlet to me. |

Only Sacred Underworld really has Dungeons though. Most of it is outside.
That's the thing. Oblivion may look gorgeous but it's playability is awful. This is why I prefer DA:O. Sure, the graphics aren't as tight as Oblivion but the playability (and replayability) is far far higher. Besides, the graphics are pretty damned good. And the characters (except Loghain for some reason) looked great but what's more, they felt real. Unlike the cardboard cut-out, no personality ones in Oblivion. I felt lonely in Oblivion. No NPCS to tag along. Horrid fetch quests and rinse and repeat dungeons. The only good bit is the beginning. Once you get outside the huge faults in the game start to appear. I'd take Neverwinter Nights 2 over Oblivion. Even Neverwinter Nights and yes... even all the Black Isle Studio's Infinity Engine games as well. I have no idea how it got a GOTY Edition. Addendum: I'd even take Diablo 2 and Sacred Underworld over Oblivion Edited by James - March 05 2010 at 10:20 |

Re-finishing Modern Warfare 2, this time on Regular difficulty. Some parts of the story will give me chills no matter how many times I see them, with the exception of the 627 thing, which I accidently read about in a magazine.

^I remember playing the mission in the diner bathroom on a PS2 demo once, pretty awesome stuff from what I can remember. Never got the game, though.
