No brainer. peter Hammill by a country mile. The guy's a polymath; speaks loads of languages, knows loads of long words, given the resources of the World's only super power premiership I'm sure he could sort of the problems in the World. (oops am I sounding like an Energy Vampire now)

George W. Bush could then return to his prog roots, and perhaps pen an epic along the lines of 'Every Bloody Emperor'.

BTW i'd have lemmy as Hammill's vice president.

Ian Anderson easily.  He's a very levelheaded guy compared to some of the nuts on this list.  He's shown he can manage a successful business outside music, his fish farms.  I also think Derek Shulman would be good, or Phil Collins.  (Daevid Allen are you kidding?, Ozzy, Fish?????)

George W. Bush could meanwhile form a prog band named "The Petrol Trust" and record "We're Only In It for the Oil". Track Suggestions:

1. Hidin' in the Mountains (The Usama Blues)
2. Nuke 'Em Good
3. Mere Coincidence (Oh, there Is Petrol in Iraq?)
4. Let's Count 'Em Again (aka the Ballad of the Ballot)
5. Lies? What Lies?
6. Dec 22nd 2000 aka "If this Were a Dictatorship, It'd Be a Heck of a Lot Easier, just so Long as I'm the Dictator."

The people you've been talking about are English, they couldnt be
President of USA just beacause of that. Zappa would be perfect for the
job, but he is dead, so I guess George W would be the dude...

Yes, he is dead, but he'd still do better than Bush

I agree, Ian Anderson is a good businessman, and he is moderate.  Zappa would only further tear the country apart because he is far too left-wing, and the rest would not know what to do (epecially that George Bush guy ), except maybe Peter Hammill, so he comes a distant second IMO.

Actually, not on this list, but if I had to pick an American musician whose music I like for President my nomination goes to Paul Kantner.
