Hey hey hey hey! Well, I've been checking PA for quite some time and thought: 'oh, what the flute! I guess I could register!' I absolutely love the format and how there are specialists and a team for every sub-genre; guess this could be a great place of refuge from the outside world where you'd get questions like: 'what's a king crimson?'  I guess some of you are already familiar with that story. So thank you for having this young proghead! ^__^ Looking foreward to posting!

Welcome, folks are pretty friendly here. Fairly quickly after signing up I posted a "Give me some suggestions..this is what I like already" type of thread and got some great ideas. It was a good intro to the forums.
And this site will magically turn all of your money into music.

@ Walter - haha! But answering to another person what a king crimson is, is rather easy. Observe: after the question hits you harder than a hammer (this usually happens the first time, but you soon get used to it) you roll your eyes in a very arrogant manner. By this time you had already caught the attention of the blasphemer. ;) After that you take the mp3/mp4/i-Pod etc out, you hand in the earbuds (still with the arrogant look in the eyes) and apathetically say: this! The reaction is usually priceless!
@ aginor - Well, I think my all time favourite band is Queen, because I've been a fan and collector for almost 10 years now. A very very close second is Tull - I'll try to avoid mentioning them in every single post. :D Then of course, the usual suspects: Yes, Genesis, Magma, Nektar, Camel, Caravan etc. However my favourite sub-genre is prog folk, which includes Comus, Spirogyra, Mellow Candle, Trees and so on.
At the moment I am rather infatuated with Magma, and Wurdah Itah is first on my 'to do' list. Hopefully I'll find some time, because I have a very good feeling about it!

Favourite albums... let's see: Tull's so called 'folk trilogy' - SFTW, Heavy Horses and Stormwatch, TAAB (of course), Queen II, Magma's MDK and KA, The Yes Album, Close to the Edge, First Utternace, Bells, Boots and Shambles by Spiro. I have recently discovered Steeleye Span's Below the Salt and Commoner;s Crown which I enjoy very much. And many many more!

Camel, Genesis and Yes is great I have not commed over any Magma records yet put they are one of my projects, i am about to collect all Gentel Giants albums and yes prog folk is a sub genre which apeal to me as well I only have som Jethro Tull albums but I love aucustic 12 string, flute, oboe, organ and bass Recounter Troubador is a song which i think is a great folk prog song

I would have highlighted Sprirogyra too as that's one of my favourite albums -- that and Comus are my traditional acid folk band faves. As for First Utterance, it mesmerized me. I like haunting music such as "The Herald" (truly a beautiful piece) and creepy, paganesque music (and I love acid folk). "Drip, Drip" lyrically grosses me out, but.... I find the album has very good contrast and is nicely nuanced (I do like rather dark music and themes commonly) It would be kind of like asking what makes The Wicker Man (the 1973 version) one of my favourite films. I'm actually interested in the occult and paganism, so thematically that becomes a plus, but I really like the music as well.
