Any discussion about a possible worst 100 albums list? Sort of like a 'hall of shame,' so to speak Tongue

I'd love to see that. Just by curiosity.

It would be interesting, some of them might even get more recognition, who knows.

If something like that was the outcome, I'd be all for it. However, some people can turn really nasty when such discussions occur. I also believe the site rules discourage attacks against bands or artists - which are generally inevitable in threads of that kind.

Seconded. I tought it'd be useful to see people opinion, and maybe "avoid" to buy albums that we wouldn't like, but it could be seen as an attack to bands + discussions would probably not be constructive.

If ANYONE out there would like to defend St. Anger or Love Beach as landmarks of music (even, no, especially the artists), they should go for it! LOL

I'll defend Love Beach to the last, and go as far to say I think its a four star album on some days.

If not for the album art I think it'd be taken more seriously

For some purists and conservatives here, that already exists - it's called Crossover, Neo, Prog Related, Prog Metal Clown

I created a thread dedicated to prog albums you must avoid and it is quite interesting to see what proggers are suggesting - of course Love Beach wins the contest...

Love Beach may not be a landmark of music, but it does have one thing going for it.  It isn't In The Hot Seat.  Wink  I think the reason Love Beach gets such a bad rap has less to do with the music than with the hideous cover.  And "Memoirs" ain't half bad.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Here's a thought: You may generate more interest assembling a list of the 100 least progressive albums.
I just ran across this in Wikipedia:
"Love Beach, along with Yes' TormatoGenesis'...And Then There Were Three..., and The Moody Blues' Octave, are considered by critics to be an example of the shift of progressive rock to a more commercial sound."
I'd easily add Too Old to Rock N' Roll: Too Young to Die to that list.

There's five already!

Good idea! Though sad to see Octave there as its kind of proggy though more commercial with a very nice sound on those two hit singles.... (The Voice, Gemini Dream)

Come on, Love Beach deserves at least 3 stars for the cover alone LOL

The first side is excellent, if you remember that ELP is a fun and crazy band, the track "Taste of my Love" is horribly cheesy but I love it for that reason. If I want serious and thoughtful I'll put Godbluff on.

=F=
