Just happened to notice that ten of the top 50 (as voted on by readers and editors) are by prog or prog-related artists/groups.  Can't say that I agree wholeheartedly with their tune selections but glad to see prog bands listed somewhere, at least.  Beatles, Black Sabbath, Doors, Iron Butterfly, King Crimson, Zep, Pink Floyd, Who, Yes and Mr. Zappa made the list.  Guess they shoulda asked us for our opinion first!  Or maybe they knew better...  Big%20smile

Can, Kraftwerk, and Sigur Ros also made the list.

Looks like they only wanted to have one song per artist, and that they chose "safer" songs from those artists, which leads to some...interesting selections.

My bad.  Make that 13 out of 50.  Kinda surprised that Genesis or ELP didn't get on the list.  I guess "Suppers Ready" is still rather obscure to the non-prog population.

can't say i agree with their choices, but i've never really expected to agree with rolling stone on anything. i'm glad they at least included some prog songs, seeing as it is the genre most notorious for writing long songs.
