Are you a professional musician, semi-pro, wanna-be pro, or an at-home-messing-'round-in-my-spare-time player ? Have you recorded your own compositions ? Got samples online ? What instrument(s) do you play ? What instrument(s) do you wish you could play ? Do you play Prog or another type ? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

wanna-be pro, and an at-home-messing-'round-in-my-spare-time player bass, i can noodle around with guitars and piano based instruments but i wouldnt dare claim i can play at all. at the moment its all for fun, but myself and a few friends are planning to get serious later this year, and with how much time i already devote to music, its going to be pretty serious. |

Theremin ! That is Cool "crappy recording program" = ? I use Cool Edit Pro & Cool Edit 2000. Very good software. It was produced by a company called Syntrillium, but I think they got bought out by Adobe. Edited by utah_man |

I have been a pro and semi pro musician for the past 20 years working
for prog and non prog bands as both band member and crew. I play a few
instuments and have my own studio and I'm currently in a prog band.
Wouldn't mind learning the Chapman Stick but right now, I don't have
the cash.
![]() I use Pro Tools, Cool Edit Pro (and excellent editor IMO - Utah Man ![]() |

I am a life-long music student - and have been in pro bands (ie, we got paid... I'm currently working with a work colleague who owns a PC/Sony Acid-based studio, around 11 keyboards, an Antares box and 2 Pod XT Pros. We're getting better... |

check out the "collaborators exchanges" section...Cert's got some great stuff there (under "Cert's Music", though a few of the links are no longer working) and I have three old recordings of mine in the "erratic output" thread. I've been pretending to make music for decades...my first love is guitar, but I also have half-decent voice, bass, and keyboard skills (and a fascination for making noises with exotic instruments and electronic gadgets). I used to play in bands quite a bit in my high school/ college days, but since then it's just been me and the PC. I use Sonar and Cubase as my main software, with Sound Forge for editing, and a buttload of plug-ins. I can also waste amazing amounts of time programming bizarre synth sounds (if I ever get a big old modular synth I may completely vanish from the outside world |

So THAT'S why the record companies aren't knocking down my door...I knew it wasn't just my sloppy playing, weak songwriting, and poor production skills. Here they are for the masses, then:

Well, we've remixed "Grey", which I know you've heard, Reed, so as soon as I get home I'll post a new Yousendit link (they only stay "live" for 7 days, which is why the links in the Collaborator's pages aren't working anymore, James!). I can't do this from work, because they've blocked Yousendit as a P2P loophole Still... I have sent the odd piece of footwear in the past Looking forward to all those Yousendit links here!

I have some examples of my non-prog stuff here
(look under the songs section) but the prog stuff only started again
last year and we've only just begun to record the stuff. Rest assured
however, I'll be a right royal pain in the arse when they are ready and
make some overblown announcement in the er, 'Anouncements' thread.
![]() I will be checking out my esteemed forum colleague's work this very evening. ![]() BTW, do tell if the link doesn't work. ![]() |
