Topic: Rush verses Yes poll Posted: December 19 2005 at 08:06 |
Two Bands that both have a big fanbase and both have earned their stripes as prog Titans, so who is better ? (some will say its like comparing apples to yada yada yada but thats the case with most of these polls)

What's the point - 2 completely different bands!

Actually in music archives Rush is often compared to Yes , sure Rush are a lot more Heavy and to my trained ear Both bands sound nothing alike ... but to the novice they percieve both of these bands to be very similar

Rush are an excellent band but will never match the intensity of Yes. And Yes are more interesting! Hardly any of their records sound the same!
My vote goes to the 20 or 30 people that made up Yes over the years
But I do really like Rush

Rush..
But it's close. Yes are brilliant. These days I probably listen to Yes more than Rush, but I've been into Rush for much longer. Rush were big Yes fans and after ditching their Led Zep copycat act, pursued more progressive music, having been inspired by the English prog giants of the day.

An extremely difficult decision but I had to go with Yes.
I've always found the influences of Rush a cross between the atmospheric sounds of Yes with the added rock drive of Led Zeppelin.
I love both bands but it has to be Yes.

Both are great bands, good musicians and both a hell of a lot better than Robbies Williams!! Now, if that was the question Robbie or Rush or even Yes or Girls Aloud!!! I could quite easliy vote. As it stands I can't choose, I like 'em both...
