The news is full of UAP (UFO's for the old guys) sightings and the US government is finally letting the public hear what they've been saying in private all along. There's 5hit out there that we just don't know what it is. So the theme is : Things that are outta this world. Your galactic overlord is impatiently waiting to see what you meat sacks can come up with. So...my Game my rules?? 1. Post a non-prog video or two max, meaning you should avoid bands that are listed on the Prog Archives site. Gotta keep it manageable so choose your songs wisely. 2. Listen to the music that has been posted. 3. Keep checking back until you've listened to them all. 4. Then we will vote for our top song. 5. Everyone
is welcome to vote once the voting opens. Please do not vote before
the voting opens. I will add the songs when the submitter confirms their final choice in no particular order. 6. If I mess up, get over it, I'm just doin' the best I can. Enjoy.

It's awesome. Usually we have done vote for three songs, but rules can change from poll to poll.

The first that came to my mind (I won't nominate it, but this is one of my two videos to mention, my nomination is below it):
Tubeway Army - Praying to the Aliens I used another track from this soundtrack as my nomination in another poll: This, Mica Levi's "Alien Loop" from the Under the Skin OST, is my nomination. Mica Levi - Alien Loop I decided to confirm my nomination as "Alien Loop" now as I will be so busy that I might neglect to later. Edited by Logan - July 07 2021 at 14:07 |

Question, associated artist is under prog-folk, under band name, however not listed solo. Band was many years prior to solo work. OK or no?

I've just watched the movie The Shadow Men, which is an alien abduction film, and entered the forums only to see this. The film was in my list for quite some time. Is this a "sign" for me to participate in this round? Haha, life is sometimes strange; or more often than sometimes.

Is it alright if I post an instrumental instead of a song proper?

We have done some for songs (i.e. has singing), some for instrumentals, and some for both. I wanted to be sure since you specifically mentioned songs. With some that can mean any music, and with others songs specifically refers to music that is sung (has vocals), which is how I generally use the term. Anyway, thanks, have included my instrumental choice.

I'll join with two starchildren.
My nomination: Keldian - Starchildren Out of competition: Bruce Dickinson - Starchildren And here is a bonus, the male singer is me. (Sumeria... Well, ancient alien gods & stuff.) |

Great idea! There would be some obvious classical choices, of course and quite a few from the prog spectrum, I decided to go acoustic.
A clever song by one of my favourite singer/songwriter types, Vance Gilbert. "Goodbye Pluto" And a song inspired by Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles," another perennial favourite, Tom Rapp. With Pearls Before Swine, he had a couple of space-themed songs, they are considered a Prog Folk group, for those unaware. This one was released after a years-long hiatus, as part of a solo return to recording. |

There's a song that fits perfectly into this theme, but it is by a band I have already shared twice. Edited by The Anders - July 07 2021 at 17:53 |

Going to go offbeat with my selections.. For anyone who had listened to Dr. Demento, this song should be familiar.
The Firm - Star Trekkin' And then we have the Tubes. Tubes - Space Baby And out of competition, a theme like this deserves some Styx "Come Sail Away", but I will go with the Eric Cartman cover version. Eric Cartman - Come Sail Away |

I have shared artists more than once and don't mind hearing other tunes by artists shared previously as it helps develop a wider picture of that artist. We have had the same artist come from different members as well. And with some themes it does become an interesting challenge and I find it enjoyable to hear others' interpretations of that challenge.

I generally would try to avoid nominating the same track by an artist in different Interactive Polls, but that's it. I have had no issue with bringing up different tracks from the same artist in these polls, and I wouldn't mind mentioning the same track in different Interactive polls.
I nominated a track this time from a soundtrack of which I nominated a different track from it before. I doubt many will want to sit all the way through this one, but hoped it might provide some contrast with others. Maybe I'm just getting lazy. |
