I mainly play the oboe and so can play most of the wood-instruments quite easily.

Also i'm planning on playing the drums and a bit guitar soon.

i am a home recorder, playing bass, guitar, keys, drum machine, and my pc. no band although i have friends who play, and well, and we are creative yet they are too far away (and somewhat apathetic). our music together would be great but as it is i have to give it a go solo. my stuff is ok but im always in need of feedback and ideas out of another's head bc i feel that my music will be better for it....radiohead is 5 geniuses not one(im a bit of a perfectionist...if it isnt as good as the best it isnt good). anyway i have some stuff, mostly electronic, with some live instruments laced in. i dont know how to share it with yu all tho. i would call some of it prog and some are just little studio dalliances to feed creative burnings that had no great inspiration. anyway if any of yu kno how i can share it with yu or if yu would like to hear some let me kno. i send them to my friends thru my I.M.
ps- i listened to the jack straw yu posted and it wasnt too bad man, id like to learn that riff, they are one of my favorite bands, just have grown out of them a little...heard it all so much yu kno?

Since I'm still in school, I play at home or with other musicians whenever I can, whenever I have time. I write and records my stuff, but have no samples. I play guitar, saxophone and a little percussion/drums. I wish I would play the keyboard (a lot better) and the violin. I mainly like prog, jazz, fusion and rock.

I am a drummer (fairly decdent if you ask people that heard me). I can also play the piano (slightly) and i really really want to learn bass. I'm in a band. We're not pro or anywhere close. We try to play the best prog we can. Flammable Titan is the name. Again if you ask people, they'll say we're decent. We contain all kinds of stuff: Piano, organ (when we can use it), drums, all sorts of percussion (got a little shop about 20 mins. away  ) turmpet and guitars of course. We are also trying to blend in sax and other wind instrments. It's coming along nice.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

i play drums, i used to be some kind of pro... but i became an architect, so i still play from time to time, yes i recorded with 2 bands, the first one PREGO, was a more prog oriented band, however it disbanded and i formed another one a little bit more acid jazz, called MENTE MAESTRA (mastermind in english). My likes are plain GOOD MUSIC, jazz, prog, fusion, classical, rock, whatever that has an escence and groove!!!

Pro musician, rock not prog!

Guitarist who messes with keyboards. Bass. Drum programmer.

Have been compared with Gary Moore. Not over happy with that as i am a Jeff Beck fan.LOL

Have five gigs this week. Average three a week. i also teach guitar.

Own a 24 track studio where locals come to make demos and finished product. In the middle of an album at the moment for a girl from kent (UK) who sounds a little like Joss Stone.

Played on Danni Minogue's new single... not proud of it but it pays the bills. Such is the life of a session player.Big smile

I've made two solo CDs and one with my duo. Composed a film sountrack a few years ago. Played in loadsa bands over the last 30 years...none of them prog though, mainly rock, blues and Little feat type stuff.

Always busy, always making music... I have to, it keeps the bank manager happy.

I guess I'm a wannbe who is now a "I'll never be". That's
OK though. I play bass, keys and guitar. I also program a
mean drum machine. I'm a lousy singer, but I sing anyway.
I've been writing and recording stuff that nobody ever
hears for years.
Most of my gear is really outdated. But I love this
stuff:
Ric 4001 stereo
Fender Jazz Bass (mexican version..Ole!)
Hofner 6 string
Washburn acoustic (cheap)
Epiphone Strat Type (also cheap)
Harmony Hollywood acoustic electric (cheapest)
Ensoniq ESQ-1
Oberheim Matrix-6
Korg DW-8000
Korg poly-six
Crumar Orchestrator
Moog concertmate MG-1
Roland TR 505
Alesis Sr 16
...and all kinds of cheesy processing.
And (Gasp!) I still record on 1/2" Tape

I play Bass and Tuba.

I'm alot better on my tuba than on my bass what with having being taught for several years and playing in National Youth Brass Bands at the like.  That said im not too shabby at the bass, am currently trying to play some Rush, finding it a fair challenge though

I play trombone, and I will be learning to play guitar once I stop blowing all my money on LPs (I did manage to learn the opening to 'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull on my 'bone)

Wow I feel so intimidated by all these experienced musicians. I've been self-teaching myself piano and guitar for over a year now, and my band is making a bassist, so I'm gonna learn a little bass too I guess.

Luckily I found my passion in music and I'm starting to write and compose songs under my influences of prog and jazz. I'm merely a wanna-be in comparison to most of you guys . Though hopefully my band and I will get noticed one day, and I'll have something to show you guys.

But anyways, it's nice to hear that there are actual musicians on this forum. Sometimes I feel like those who listen to prog don't seem to have a true appreciation for it, than those who actually play music. Suffice it to say, prog may not necessarily be the height of musical talent, but nonetheless pretty high. Anyways...yea

Well I guess I'm the last alternative
I play in 3 bands: Rapunzel, Epistel and Elliots Bad Day.
We recorded some songs with Rapunzel but that's nothing that I wanna show to anyone
I play the Drums, Guitar, Piano, Bass. I'm trying to learn to play the Harmonica, it's cool!
I wish I could play the Saxophone!

Hi All,

I have been playing bass for 33 years. I am in a Prog band and we do Dream Theater, Yes, Rush, Liquid Tension etc... covers. Right now we are at a stand still as we are looking for a new guitarist. I play an RBX6JM, Curbow 6, Rickenbacker 4001, and use Gallien Krueger amplification. You are never to old to go out there and rock.

I play Bass and sings in almost-prog band called De Volta Às Origens, I play acoustic guitar, keyboards and a bit of harmonica and drums.

We recorded one time but was ONE OF THESE DAYS and the song that I wrote was a crapp, even with his 11 minutes..
