How many of you guys want some feedback - "objective criticism" - in addition to Jethro Fish ? Not that my opinion is all that important... Anyway...Here's some samples of personal stuff I made many years ago...unfortunately its not in the progressive genre http://64.176.30.83/music.htm Please let me know: 1. If it downloaded OK (mp3 format) 2. Your "review" Thank you all for your time. Edited by utah_man |

professional messer... played in bands all through my 20s and early 30s but now just don't have the time and am too damn old... I still tinker around at home using all the equipment stored up over the years.. mostly... Cubase, Sound Forge, Recycle, Reason, Fruity Loops to record plus FM7, B4, Pro53, ImpOscar, Elektrik Piano, M-Tron, Garritan Personal Orchestra, Roland JV1010 with keys of 60s and 70s for synths and sounds plus Fender Telecaster, Hohner ST57 and ST59, Epiphone G1275 double neck, Yamaha FG365se 6 string acoustic, Tanglewood 12 string, Vintage AMG1 dobro, some dodgy old mandolin, a dodgy old Cimar (Ibanez) bass. a bunch of old drum machines, stomp boxes, etc A Vox AC30 and a Fender Stage 112SE though I use a lot of modelling processors like the Korg AX1000G for guitar sounds. Plus a bunch of (mostly freeware) effects plug-ins. And I still haven't finished a damn thing!

Wow! Another one.
I`ve played drums for years as well as faked it on piano (we have two ) , Guitar ( I have an old Squire Strat I plug in from time to time as well as an Ibanez acoustic). In high school I played tuba and trombone. I`ve played in a few jazz bands as well as a brief stint in a Black Sabbath cover band. Although I really don`t play that much anymore but If I`m in a pub that has an open jam I`ll get up. I recently helped some kids get a metal band together which was fun. These kids could actually play. My wife is an accomplished classical musician and teacher and is currently working on her PHD. She specializes in voice and early music. Her principal instrument is Sackbut an early version of the trombone. She plays all kinds of other weird instruments as well. You should hear her do Hocus Pocus but she`ll only do it after a few drinks. I have two Australian Cattle dogs who also try and play the piano and guitar but no recording contracts are forthcoming. |

I play Bass and sings in almost-prog band called De Volta Às Origens, I play acoustic guitar, keyboards and a bit of harmonica and drums. We recorded one time but was ONE OF THESE DAYS and the song that I wrote was a crapp, even with his 11 minutes.. |

Hi All, I have been playing bass for 33 years. I am in a Prog band and we do Dream Theater, Yes, Rush, Liquid Tension etc... covers. Right now we are at a stand still as we are looking for a new guitarist. I play an RBX6JM, Curbow 6, Rickenbacker 4001, and use Gallien Krueger amplification. You are never to old to go out there and rock. TR |

Wow I feel so intimidated by all these experienced musicians. I've been
self-teaching myself piano and guitar for over a year now, and my band
is making a bassist, so I'm gonna learn a little bass too I guess.
Luckily I found my passion in music and I'm starting to write and compose songs under my influences of prog and jazz. I'm merely a wanna-be in comparison to most of you guys . Though hopefully my band and I will get noticed one day, and I'll have something to show you guys. But anyways, it's nice to hear that there are actual musicians on this forum. Sometimes I feel like those who listen to prog don't seem to have a true appreciation for it, than those who actually play music. Suffice it to say, prog may not necessarily be the height of musical talent, but nonetheless pretty high. Anyways...yea |

I play trombone, and I will be learning to play guitar once I stop blowing all my money on LPs (I did manage to learn the opening to 'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull on my 'bone)

I play Bass and Tuba.
I'm alot better on my tuba than on my bass what with having being taught for several years and playing in National Youth Brass Bands at the like. That said im not too shabby at the bass, am currently trying to play some Rush, finding it a fair challenge though |

I guess I'm a wannbe who is now a "I'll never be". That's
OK though. I play bass, keys and guitar. I also program a mean drum machine. I'm a lousy singer, but I sing anyway. I've been writing and recording stuff that nobody ever hears for years. Most of my gear is really outdated. But I love this stuff: Ric 4001 stereo Fender Jazz Bass (mexican version..Ole!) Hofner 6 string Washburn acoustic (cheap) Epiphone Strat Type (also cheap) Harmony Hollywood acoustic electric (cheapest) Ensoniq ESQ-1 Oberheim Matrix-6 Korg DW-8000 Korg poly-six Crumar Orchestrator Moog concertmate MG-1 Roland TR 505 Alesis Sr 16 ...and all kinds of cheesy processing. And (Gasp!) I still record on 1/2" Tape |

^ Yay, another MG-1 owner. What a wonderfully funky little beast that machine is. I feel bad for everyone who saw only "Radio Shack" and missed the "Moog" part.

Pro musician, rock not prog! Guitarist who messes with keyboards. Bass. Drum programmer. Have been compared with Gary Moore. Not over happy with that as i am a Jeff Beck fan. Have five gigs this week. Average three a week. i also teach guitar. Own a 24 track studio where locals come to make demos and finished product. In the middle of an album at the moment for a girl from kent (UK) who sounds a little like Joss Stone. Played on Danni Minogue's new single... not proud of it but it pays the bills. Such is the life of a session player. I've made two solo CDs and one with my duo. Composed a film sountrack a few years ago. Played in loadsa bands over the last 30 years...none of them prog though, mainly rock, blues and Little feat type stuff. Always busy, always making music... I have to, it keeps the bank manager happy. |
