I could never get into Dire Straits, not the old albums and not the later albums. I only like a few tracks like Private Investigations and Calling Elvis.

And Walk Of Life is for me he most horrible track ever released by a well-known band. But I'll leave the Dire Straits-fans alone. Don't pay attention to me.

Sorry Dick. I was of course talking about the famous english cuisine.
I would never allude to a trist between yourself and Snow Dog
especially at a time when you had chicken pox.

Yes, I don't think Dick wants to have any part in it.
Will have to be more careful on the forum now.
Will have to say things like, you Richard head, you only ever think of
your Richard, get a Richard in your ear, should be more careful where
you put your Richard, etc.

Everything is bad about dire straits, especially the bandana.

Private Investigations - really good
Brothers in Arms - really dull
Twistin' by the Pool - worse than Love Beach,
Big Generator and Invisible Touch combined

Dire Straits is a great band! especially the 78-82 period (though i haven't heard much from that period). Love Over Gold is a masterpiece and Brothers in Arms is also a excellent album. Not really prog though.

I really like much of what they did, except for Money For Nothing. I hate that bleeping song.

I like the band, but anyone saying mark knopfler is a bad guitarist is either an idiot or knows nothing about music. He has one of the cleanest, most original styles there is. and he never, I mean NEVER uses a pick. Hes an extremely talented guitarist, if you dont like his style thats fine, but saying hes a bad guitarist is stupid.

yeah, I went to see him in concert a few months back - He was so competent & relaxed and very professional - his guitar playing is amazing ... and his backing band were pretty darn good too. Definitey one of the best concerts I've seen ...
