^ I love that track. It makes me think that it may have had some influence on electronic people like Tangerine Dream, or Popol Vuh, maybe even Jarre.

Piper is head and shoulders better than the other two, so Piper and selected songs from the other two.

...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Hi,

I think the Zabriskie Point film was a serious problem and Antonioni had issues with the American producers telling him what to do, and in the end, force the film into a story and Antonioni did not create or considered. I think the soundtrack, by PF probably had other details for the film that were never shown or seen, and Antonioni went on to try and disassociate himself from it.

I like to say that the ZP soundtrack was weak because it was misused and most of it ignored likely because it wasn't an American band the producers could not rob as much. The other two films were directed by Barbet Schroeder, and were better ... MORE is excellent, though many folks don't like the music in the cassette player, which is natural and proper for the film story ... and LA VALLEE ended up a big mess, and the story kinda went sideways and left and then right and then ... who cares ... and the actors were all improvising dialogue ... I'm not sure there was a proper script for the film, but you had some really fine actors from England and then some really fine folks from the Academie Francaise. I kinda think that it was just a party to get stoned, and a story was kinda invented to make the film more than just a bunch of rich folks doing a version of a safari once in their life. I like the music, but it is not exactly about the film at all except maybe one piece and the opening ... which is likely something the Cinematographer created by chance ... Almendros was already known to be a visual cinematographer. He probably made the film interesting so it did not fall apart.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

^ An expanded edition of the ZP album was issued, now I don't remember when, including tracks not used in the film, nor included in the OST. As for More and OBC, I like them infinitely more than the respective films.
