And judging by all the reviews you do on here I would say a plethora of other bands too.

I need to explore Kayak a bit more. As for G.H. their last one from 2023 is very good and so is Lex Rex. Chronometree is ok but a bit marred by odd vocals. I haven't heard Shadowland (yet). As for Eloy I currently have Power and the Passion up to Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes. All are good. I probably like Silent Cries the best but that might be because it's the one I'm most familiar with. Dawn hasn't really grown on me yet. At first I thought I liked it but it didn't seem to have the keyboard power (especially synth) of the two that followed it. It seemed more orchestral or something which maybe didn't work for me on that. However, it may require more listens and I do still like it.

I enjoyed Dawn quite a bit - and the suggestion of increased keyboard power in the next 2 albums will definitely lead me to them!😎 |

those 3 albums also have the mighty beast of the drum Jurgen Rosenthal on them. They are the most powerful Eloy albums for a reason! I actually prefer the Colours - Metromania era (80's). That's when I first heard them. Those albums have great synths but may appeal more to those who love electronica.

Well I’ve listened to all 3 of those albums now and enjoyed them all very much! Why did I not know of them previously?! I can hear their influence on IQ so it’s not much of a surprise that I’ve enjoyed them so much. Will definitely be delving deeply…. |

I hear Genesis in IQ but not Eloy. Maybe I'm not familiar enough with Eloy though.

You are right, no Genesis in Eloy. There is some Floyd in there though.

There is no Eloy in IQ is what I meant. Or if there is I don't hear it. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear.

Well, apparently Marillion (especially Fish) were influenced by Van der Graaf Generator but I don't really hear that in early Marillion so anything is possible.

I hear Hammill's influence on Fish especially on the Fugazi album. And even on Script.

Oh absolutely! I've always thought the similarities in vocal style were blindingly obvious, esp on Script & Fugazi as you say... listen to the way Fish spits out his anger and distain on Forgotten Sons, then play Still Life???

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Nobody took the bait! Pity. Perhaps you're just tired of my same old shtick. Still, I guess I'll try one more time. |

Perhaps. But he sounds more like Gabriel to my ears. Also, I don't hear VdGG in the music. Actually, apart from glimpses here and there, I don't hear VdGG in any other music I've listened to, not even in Discipline - Unfolded Like Staircase (in which several people have claimed to hear VdGG). |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
