I've long had a feeling for Japan, I love lots of anime, Japanese music, and living there I do consider to have been the best time of my life. Kyoto is such a wonderful place. Love the temples, love the food, love the people I would meet. This topic is about your (and my) favourite albums from Japan.

Thee following are some of my favourite studio albums from Japan with just one per act. Please mention any of your favourites.

After Dinner - Paradise of Replica (1989)
Angel'in Heavy Syrup - Angel'in Heavy Syrup IV (1999)
Ichiko Aoba - O (2013)
betcover!! - Tamago (2022)
Bondage Fruit - Bondage Fruit (1994)
Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun (1998)
Boris - Flood (2000)
J.A. Ceasar - Den'en ni shisu (1974)
Far East Family Band - Parallel World (1976)
Fishmans - Long Season (1996)

Ground-Zero - Consume Red (1997)
Haco + Sakamoto Hiromichi - Ash in the Rainbow (2002)
Happy Family - Happy Family (1995)
Hizuru - Hizuru (2017)
Yoshihiro Kanno – Tenshi no tamago ongaku-hen: Mizu ni sumu (Angel's Egg) (1985)
Kikagaku Moyo - House in the Tall Grass (2016)
Kikuo - Kikuo Miku 6 (2019)
Osamu Kitajima - Benzaiten (1976)
Kitaro - Ten Kai (1978)
Koenji Hyakkei - Ni (1997)
Jun Konagaya - Travel (2014)
Melt-Banana - Cell-Scape (2003)

Yoshiko Sai - Mangekyō (1975)
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto (1978)
Salle Gaveau - Alloy (2007)
Konomi Sasaki - Ninjin (1973)
Matsuhito Sato - Amalgamation (1971)
Shibusashirazu - Shibuboshi (2004)
Taj Mahal Travellers - August 1974 (1975)
Tipographica - Floating Opera (1997)
Juno Ueda (PoiL Ueda) - Yosh*tsune (2023)
Wha-Ha-Ha - Shinutokiwa Betsu (1981)
World's End Girlfriend - Hurtbreak Wonderland (2007)
Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor (1979)
Yonin-Bayashi - Ishoku-Sokuhatsu (1974)
Yura Yura Teikoku - Hollow Me (2007)

Two of my favourites lives are Fishmans' 98.12.28 男達の別れ (98.12.28 Otokotachi no wakare) (1998) and Genoih Yamashirogumi's Live ''Hirakareta Gassho'' Junen No Tenkai (1979).

By the way, I though about doing this as another poll or two, but I love to get more on what other people like, and when I list ones often people think I should havce listed others, or that it's strange that I did not. Explaining can get a bit tedious.

Spitz - Robinson

It's not an underground or obscure song but it is really good imo.

^ Hiromi is so talented.
^^^ Oh, I love Stom'u Yamash'ta's Floating Music. That should have been on my list.
^^^^ I'd heard of Siitz, first time hearing that though, I think.

I made a playlist of one track per album for my choices (in some cases full albums and I might have deleted one from the playlist by mistake).

That music ranges from the very melodic and sweet to the very noisy, and lot in between.

^ I know that Sigh album is well-respected, I have to hear it. I like the other albums you mentioned.

By the way, if I were to choose one favourite track from my playlist for my mood right now, it would be "雪女 (Yukionna)" off Yoshiko Sai's Mangekyō (1975)

Japan has indeed been doing great things in prog and fusion, Flat 122 one of my favorites -
