I've long had a feeling for Japan, I love lots of anime, Japanese music, and living there I do consider to have been the best time of my life. Kyoto is such a wonderful place. Love the temples, love the food, love the people I would meet. This topic is about your (and my) favourite albums from Japan.

Thee following are some of my favourite studio albums from Japan with just one per act. Please mention any of your favourites.

Yura Yura Teikoku - Hollow Me (2007)

Two of my favourites lives are Fishmans' 98.12.28 男達の別れ (98.12.28 Otokotachi no wakare) (1998) and Genoih Yamashirogumi's Live ''Hirakareta Gassho'' Junen No Tenkai (1979).

By the way, I though about doing this as another poll or two, but I love to get more on what other people like, and when I list ones often people think I should havce listed others, or that it's strange that I did not. Explaining can get a bit tedious.

Spitz - Robinson

It's not an underground or obscure song but it is really good imo.

Hiromi - Spark

^ Hiromi is so talented.
^^^ Oh, I love Stom'u Yamash'ta's Floating Music. That should have been on my list.
^^^^ I'd heard of Siitz, first time hearing that though, I think.

I made a playlist of one track per album for my choices (in some cases full albums and I might have deleted one from the playlist by mistake).

That music ranges from the very melodic and sweet to the very noisy, and lot in between.

^ I know that Sigh album is well-respected, I have to hear it. I like the other albums you mentioned.

By the way, if I were to choose one favourite track from my playlist for my mood right now, it would be "雪女 (Yukionna)" off Yoshiko Sai's Mangekyō (1975)

I think, it was a good idea to do this as a plain thread and not a poll. Otherwise, I would probably not post my list, while I'm happy to do it here. Smile

^ I agree, David. Loved seeing your list, love every album from it and it made me remember that favourite that I forgot all about including. Cheers.

By the way, this is the track from my choices that I have brought up many more times than I have remaining brain cells. Maybe 35 times over the years. It is one of the bands that I have been proudest to bring to this site's attention.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi's "Osorezan". It's very funky, has very Japanese elements, and as Barbarella says, "A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming." I adore it. It's one of my favourite "epics".

By the way, I have really enjoyed these around the world lists. There is so much great music around the world to discover and celebrate, and with so many forms of expression I'm proud to be part of a community where we demonstrate such diversity.
