It's very good and one of their best albums, which isn't a small thing, because almost of their albums are amazing.(function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8c825157bcdecbce',t:'MTcyNzE3NjExOS4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();< height="1" width="1" style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: none; visibility: ;">

In fairness I need to give them another listen. What I have heard from them all sounds the same song-to-song from album to album. I'll give them another try...

Very Good
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Voted top 3 as I rank this their third best album behind Dark Matter and The Road of Bones. A bunch of minus signs fell out of my nose and now I can't subtract.

For me IQ are one of those bands who seem to make the same album every time, just with the component bits slightly re-arranged. (cf Flower Kings and Ozrics). For me this isn’t one of their best - that would be Road of Bones.

I had a copy on red vinyl, spinned it 3 or 4 times through, traded it in for store credit.  Resistance sounds to these ears like leftovers that failed to make the cut for Road of Bones.

It would also be nice if someone told Peter Nicholls it is okay to write fewer lyrics.

This album seems to have mixed responses. Maybe it's one of those "grower" albums.

I liked Resistance instantly, the first time I heard it. Maybe Nomzamo is a "grower" too, although it hasn't taken root with me yet, but at least none of IQ's albums belong on the compost heap. Tongue

I’m a huge fan but this is by far their weakest album. Have tried and tried but it’s poor. TGSW was great at first but even my appreciation of that has faded.

This album scores 10/20, whereas all other albums by them score at least 18/20….

Very interesting. It just sounds dense to me. Most of their albums don't seem to suffer from inpenetrability this one does. Oh well, I'll keep trying I guess. I suppose I can always use it as background music. Confused

Polarised opinion is not necessarily such a bad thing. Compared to say Brave or Tales From Topographic Oceans I would much rather listen to Resistance personally.

Yes, I find it very hard to believe that 18 people would prefer to listen to TfTO... Confused

problem with this poll for me is there several categories I could have legitimately voted in... this is another one!
