Favourite acts you dont see others talk about here

There are many bands and artists that you might be enamoured with for which you don't see any appreciation and conversation/comments about, at least at PA (and at least in the forum if included in PA), except perhaps by yourself or in response to you. That doesn't mean it does not exist, of course, but you have not noticed it or at least remembered it. Please try to share a video or two if you can and describe the act/acts.

One favourite of mine over the past year has been Beach House (from Baltimore), but I don't recall seeing anyone else saying they like it (and I've mentioned it quite a few times).

Here are or two of my favourite tracks by Beach House, from Bloom (2012) and Once Twice Melody (2022). I like the videos, the second is fan-made taking scenes from an old film and the first is quite absurd.





Rateyourmusic describes Beach House as Dream Pop, Indie Pop, Neo-Psychedelia, Shoegaze, Indietronica, Bedroom Pop.

A more recent favourite of mine is the not-in-PA post rock band BRUIT ≤ from France. It one has one album so far, which is The Machine Is Burning and Now Everyone Knows It Could Happen Again from 2023. A very post-rock title.

Another recent discovery of mine that I really like is Oneohtrix Point Never, which is the project of Daniel Lopatin from the US. rateyourmusic describes his music as Progressive Electronic, Ambient, Glitch, Electronic, Art Pop, Neo-Psychedelia. I have listened the nmost to his albums Garden of Delete (2015) and R Plus Seven (2013).

Not sure whether anyone but me has talked about Tyondai Braxton's solo work (formerly in Battles, son of experimental jazz giant Anthony Braxton).

I love both their first and second album - and discovered them thanks to you mentioning them here at PA.

^ Richard: I actually was listening to some of that Placebo with the 1998 album Without You I'm Nothing within the last couple of months as I was looking to explore more music. Never Let Me Go, the name of the most recent album is the title of one of my very favourite novels, by the way. I first remember coming across that Placebo name because there is a jazz-fusion Placebo that I love from the early 70s.



Saperlipopette!: I don;t use Tik Tok but one of my children is very big on it and I mentioned that he might want to check out Beach House and only then later he told me that a song was popular by the band on Tik Tok. The album it's off, Depression Cherry is very good imo. Loved listening to Ævestaden. Will be checking out more.

I did not expect to read almost simultaneous references to the pop rock UK band Placebo and its belgian homonym from the years seventies . I like both :-)

Yes Depression Cherry is the one I've listened to after having been reminded of them. it's great. Thay always are. Glad you enjoy Ævestaden. They are my just the perfect band for me right now. Actually not so far from Dream Pop. In atmosphere. Sometimes.
