Great choice of track from a great album. That's a pretty popular album here at PA and RYM. It was one of my collab albums of the year and it was the Collab album of the year at Prog Archives (for those who don't know). I like it more now than ever, and RateYourMusic played a part in me listening to and getting all of the black midi albums (Cavalcade is the one that made me a serious fan, although I already had liked Schlagenheim before).

As for Voivod, I'm usually not that big on a lot of, shall i say, related music, but Voivod I really like, including that track.

^ Greg, the increasing amount of music to be heard is reaching its limits imo. As nice as it may be to have a beautiful music collection, the likelyhood that people will listen to it decreases. Besides musical diversity increases with the number of participants imo, rather than with the number of songs alone.

I find this to be a positive experience. Had been listening a but at a rime without comment and have enjoyed this.

While I have no data to support this, I feel that overall participation on PA has been down this past week. Mostly concentrated bursts from a few forum regulars. That's my impression.

I had kept a slow place with this one so there would be some room for new voices. But I certainly wouldn't want to see these remaining slots go without tracks so I will have another suggestion in my next post.

^^ Mila, I prefer to take most everything here personally, I tend to prefer that to taking comments as impersonal. I liked that you addressed me personally, but I know you did not just mean this poll and I know what you mean. I don't check this site every day, but I have ad-free youtube and bookmark the playlist. Listening is pretty easy, at least for me, especially as there is no time limit and I often multitask, but commenting is harder. If you have time, I hope you do a shorter contemporary poll -- say one nomination per person, maybe eight people, maybe 5 five minute max tracks, or whatever. No hard feelings on my part, but I do wish I had done things differently. They can be time-consuming to put together and update, which is why much as I enjoy the music, I sometimes think I am too lacking in time to take them on. In summer I often am very, very busy with work. That newest Interactive Poll I linked to before is easier to put together. Room for lots of different styles.

@ George: I loved listening to the Noveller Rubicon as well as the Sarah Liptaste covers. Terrific what she does with that guitar and guitar effects. And, yes, seeing the red Waiting Room is a very nice touch. In the second video I suspect that she is in the White Lodge. We just need a white Angel too.

I realised that I could easily vote for almost all of these, but then if I vote for almost all of them, it kind of makes the voting feel a little pointless and diminishes my votes as meaningful. It's bit like giving that "thanks" button a click for posts. If you thank every post then the thanks seems much less heartfelt, sincere and meaningful.

I opted for five. In doing so I am only going to consider one per submitter, and while there are three albums that music is off here that I had heard, if it sounds fresh again to me (I was so into back midi some time back, maybe too much) and made me appreciate it all the more, then I will give it a vote. That happened with Mila's Monika Roscher Bigband - Starlight Nightcrash. And I knew on first listen that all of these would get a vote, and on my second and now my quick third refresher (just takes a little of the song to remind me).

So here are my five choices (all ended up being in the first nine so maybe getting in early did affect my decisions):

If you decide to vote, feel free to vote how you like. I do hope hope take some time to listen (maybe even just one per submitter, thread is not long to see that, takes a few minutes) and comment even a bit. Being Interactive for the classic series isn't just about people submitting tracks to be included (and people voting), it's about listening to other people's choices, hopefully commenting and having some active group discussion/ conversation/ chat with people about the music. An issue I sometimes find in topics at PA is that there is so little obvious interaction between people who post that it feels like the individual posts act like islands even if no man is an island entire of itself, no, no woman neither though by your smiling you seem to say so. Oh, I'm mixing up my Donne and Shakespeare. Seems I have of late lost all my mirth....

Once again, thank you for the wonderful selections, the conversation, including potential critiques, and the bonhomie. It does take hours hosting these as I have, but it was worth it even if I worry that it has been dissatisfying to some. Sorry if I seemed to take your comments a bit hard, Mila. I was already feeling very awkward about posting a fourth track. Of course with all the time put into these I want it to be an enjoyable and positive experience for all. I figured one need not listen to all by person if the desire, or listen to full tracks.... And I would be fine with someone saying that they will only comment on one or two selections per individual. I had wanted to see the poll filled out and I would have appreciated three or four from others here. You only shared the two, but I would hardly have minded more. Maybe if you discount all of mine, you might find the time to comment on the others. No time limit, so it can be past summer if summer is too busy for people.

I think Lorenzo may have summed up the potential issue best on including lots of tracks from the Heaven-Sent and Hell-Bent poll, and I have meant to take that to heart (especially as it came from the series starter who had done an earlier duos poll, and has been most keen on the Interactive Polls survival).

In that poll I asked people not to nominate unless they plan to vote (that directive failed, but I figured it might limit participation except for the most keen), but I figured in this one following George's model that people would feel freer to listen or not to listen and so I felt more flexible in a way.
