@Greg: I think that some of these acts certainly might qualify for PA, too, so they might bear a bit more of exposure in here, too, if they are not already here.

^ That's very true, Nickie. I might suggest one of mine.
And since we're on a new page and I know some forum members most usually just look at the most recent page if clicking on a topic, here is the playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXcp9fYc6K4I-4Ju7rKbdyTgSUAh4jYNc And here are links to the whole albums on bandcamp: ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT- "The Sons and Daughters of Poor Eternal" off "Darling the Dawn" (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Jeremias Keller - "Silicium" (2023) off Alloy BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Secret Sky - "Opium" off Opium (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Maud the moth + trajedesaliva - "Perla" off Bordando el manto terrestre (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK La théorie des cordes - "ALP La colosse d'Anatolie" off 4U-9525 (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Teke::Teke - "Hoppe" off Hagata (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Katie Kim - "Gentle Little Bird" off Hour of the Ox (2022) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK iNFiNiEN - "Ascent" off Beyond the Veil (2022) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Monika Roscher Bigband - "Starlight Nightcrash" off Witchy Activities and the Maple Death (2023) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Oiseaux-Tempête - "Voodoo Spinning" off What On Earth (Que Diable) (2022) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK Uboa - "The Flesh of the World" off The Flesh of the World (2020) BANDCAMP EP LINK Birth - "Cosmic Tears" off Born (2022) BANDCAMP ALBUM LINK All are welcome to join in with contemporary/modern tracks they like that are fairly recent discoveries to you. You don't even have to comment, vote or listen to other's choices, although it would be much appreciated. Please see original post if submitting. I would ask for some new blood, but I might save that request for an Interactive Goth poll I want to do at some time. ;) [insert goth vampire emoji here] Edited by Logan - June 29 2023 at 11:21 |

Mila: For Monika Roscher Bigband's Starlight Nightcrash, fantastic song, I did use your alternative, the official video off the album Witchy Activities and the Maple Death as it is the version off the studio album rather than the live witch or which is from 2017. Great choice of track from MRB. I almost went with one off the latest album myself, but I couldn't decide on which one. That would have been a great choice.

@Greg, you may want to link/promote this over in the top 5 of 2023 thread to get sone new blood before going goth.

^ Lol. Trying to get the attention of PAers can be like trying to suck blood from a stone. Okay, I’m really just saying that to keep up the sucking blood theme. That would strike me as not on-topic enough, and maybe a bit crass (a more negative term than I want, but adroit words with the right finesse escape me). I’m not a big one for promotion really, although I do like to bring recognition to art and issues that I care about. I would be a terrible salesman. The Goth poll would be for much later. I had wanted to do an Interactive playlist of the dark wave and ethereal wave variety to complement your New Wave one. Maybe No Wave, synthwave and booty wave too. If you don’t know bootywave, it’s like a booty tsunami according to a song featured on The Onion.

I'm going to put up a third. If there are enough people then I might have this as a write-in and still in the playlist. Uboa (aka Xandra Metcalfe) is an artist that I got into very soon after discovering Lingua Ignota (aka Kristin Hayter). She can be quite extreme, and part of what I like in music is pretty extreme. I might have gone for a more extreme, kind of screaming track (in part), but I'll save people's ears. This still brings the Noise but also is melodic, and brings a rather repetitious groove I like. Earlier this year I listened to her EP The Flesh of the World. It is from 2020, so earlier than the other choices so far.
Here is the title track off Uboa's The Flesh of the World. Edited by Logan - June 28 2023 at 19:23 |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

^ Thanks, that's some good retro psych/space prog. And I hope more will decide to share two videos, or three, or maybe even four.... I would like to fill up the options ideally, but while it would be nice to have some less usual-to-this names joining us, at least I know that the regulars have great taste!
![]() Thanks to all who have participated this far. That video is unavailable to me, but this is the same (as evidenced by when I added it to my playlist and set my options to show unavailable video) and does work for me. I added both to cover more regions. |

Thanks, Greg! Anything's fine with me as long as the video is available to eveyone. I'm glad you like my choice. It's amazing that you know this artist!

^I know the artist as well. I got Failure in Wonderland after someone had mentioned her on PA maybe 6 years ago and took a listen. I prefer that over second album. I got an alert for the new one and it's on my Bandcamp wishlist but have not yet listened. Look forward to listening to the track posted here.

^ It seems I meanwhile have a knack for choosing the right stuff here. No wonder, it's been two years now since I joined PA. On the other hand, it's a pity that I adapt maybe too much to the musical taste here, because I have a great variety of music up my sleeve. I know Teke::Teke as well btw, kexp is one of your favourite music sources on youtube, right?

My mini-review in Bandcamp: New psychedelia and prog blend from San Diego really capture the experimentalism and sound of the original periods as they began to merge with one another. Indeed, this is a marriage between two bands, Astra, and Psicomagia, that is a very successful one. Instruments are synths, electric piano, organ, electric and acoustic guitars, bass and drums. This band mixes all of the best of psych and prog and creates a satisfying mélange that deserves repeated listenings. Favorite track: For Yesterday. |

It's thanks to the Rate Your Music charts. I often look for music there and check it out if it looks interesting to me, and it most certainly did. For one, I often favour female artist names, and modern music. She was not so prominent when I found her latest album, I think, last month, but I use search terms to look for of interest to me music. Witchy Activities and the Maple Death is now #18 for 2023 in the all-music charts there. For art pop as genre or influence, which is a common search term for me, she is at number three there for 2023. That said, I did know her name before that. As for adapting ones tastes, I don't for the polls (I go with what I know and really like and I think fits) but exposure to music by others definitely has an effect on my tastes and can open up new horizons and new passions. I've been at PA along time and my tastes have rather grown and changed alongside certain elements here. These days I am more of a lone wolf on the prowl for music. |

I had always ignored Voivod ... until a couple of months ago. Of all their recent videos, I think this one is the most awesome:

A few more tracks in and I am liking it all. Really dig the Middle Eastern flavors and guitar in "Opium" and the concept and vocals in "Perla". The instrumental track suggested by Kees (title too much to type on my phone) is great as well.
iNFiNiEN and Birth were both favorites from last year. I will suggest one more recent to me. A track by this group was suggested by New Zealand Nick a couple of years back in the Heaven and Hell poll but I had forgotten even though I voted for it and the paired track. I was reminded when I searched the forums. So, re-discovered Teeth of the Sea a few months through a random click on Bandcamp app due to being all thumbs. They are on PA with some high ratings, but their most recent Wraith from 2019 has only 9 ratings. They are supposed to have new album out at the end of the year. One of the things I like about this group is their use of trumpet. From Wraith, I suggest VISITOR with guest percussionist Valentina Magaletti of Vanadhing Twin. Teeth of the Sea - VISITOR (2019) Bandcamp link: https://teethofthesea.bandcamp.com/album/wraith There is one 4-star review from Mike (TCat) on PA. I miss his contributions. Hope he is okay. Thanks Greg for adding album links. It reflects on how much of an impact Bandcamp has on new music as each artist so far is available there.

^^^Voivod! I was mostly into them late 80's and 90's and hadn't listened much in the 2000's, but their recent stuff is good.

RYM was instrumental in my becoming more active again when it comes to music. I have found many interesting releases there - but even though it's the biggest music rating website on the planet, there's some albums missing there. Which inspired me to integrate many of the bigger websites into my TYM. Anywho, here's my second track - found at RYM: Edited by MikeEnRegalia - June 30 2023 at 06:05 |
