Yes, great playlist. Shows a greater diversity of the 70s that most don't think of. I would be curious to see how this would go over if it was put out on the Prog Poll forum for all PA members to vote on.

So, this was a top notch listening experience, not just the 22 nominated tracks, but actually most of everything put up here. Now, trying to get to vote for four is not easy, especially deciding the fourth one...

Without hesitation, my number one spot is for a true masterpiece - I ordered and received the vinyl in the mean time: Luciano Cilio - Secondo Quadro della Conoscenza

Then, FM and Split Enz were the good surprises for me and get my vote too.

My fourth vote is a bit more arbitrary. It could go to Can, Roxy Music, Association PC, but if I choose a track I'm less familiar with, then it goes to Henry Cow. That's what I do.

This is where my votes will go to:

The Residents Avant-garde and experimental music always arouse my interest. I find it all the more exciting that this is an art collective that uses multi-media. These guys are also fun and entertaining. I’m sure it would be a pleasure to attend a concert/show of theirs, and hey, they are still active!

Association P.C. Indeed, an outstanding experimental jazz rock combo. It is remarkable that such quality of this music style came out of Europe in the early 70s. Kudos!

FM Here we dive into rockier territories but the sound of this band is different, it is enriched by the use of instruments uncommon in rock music, such as violin, electric mandolin etc. Black Noise is a dynamic and catchy track but also a varied and coherently composed one, including rhythm changes and calmer sequences. I also like the vocals; they complement and are well incorporated into the piece.

Clearlight Symphonic prog with a new-age twist whereby I particularly enjoy the sound of individual calssical instrumnts. “Spirale d’amour’ is maybe a bit of a chaotic composition but it is regardless a quite interesting and pleasant piece.

Hot candidates for my 70s road trip playlist:
