It's more like pointing that you're the absolute leader of the off-topicness, and maybe pointing some other of your hypocrisy with connection to The Lemming.

I am usually the one telling people to stay on topic. So I don't know what you're talking about.

No, I'm the absolute leader of off-topicness, at least according to Cristi.

I congratulate you (UK) on being the 2nd in the Eurovision Song Contest yesterday. You actually deserved to win. See, I'm the off-topic king! ![]() ![]() |

That's what I meant. Anyway, getting back on topic, I don't generally go out of my way to avoid Progressive Metal, as I've liked most of what I've heard in that genre so far - mainly Ayreon, Dream Theater & Porcupine Tree - although I'm still undecided about Opeth, having only heard their first three albums up to now. The only prog genre I now go out of my way to avoid is Avant Prog, having been less than impressed - to put it mildly - by the debut albums from the Cardiacs, Guapo, Present, Swans & Thinking Plague. I haven't yet heard any RIO or Zeuhl music, but I have a strong feeling that wouldn't appeal to me either.

It takes some time before I forget all the things that have happened to me here, and nobody ever has said "excuse" to me or given me an explanation. |

I might be somewhat cynical, but I’m fairly certain the UK only came second because Ukraine was always going to win. If that same song had appeared in previous years, it wouldn’t have surprised me if it received nil points. When you know something else is going to beat it, it’s a lot easier to give something else some points. Actually, thank goodness the UK didn’t win, as the Tories would no doubt have acclaimed it as a great Brexit win. 😜 Now, to drag this vaguely back on topic, how many prog metal Eurovision songs can you name? 🤪 |

^ I agree. Ukraine would win in any case.
As I remember, Pain of Salvation tried their luck in that contest many years ago, but couldn't make it to the finals. Edited by Archisorcerus - May 15 2022 at 05:15 |

Or I guess, I'm wrong concerning explanation. You did it indirectly, in PMs. DtR

I know Voyager were hoping to be the Australian Eurovision entry this year, but didn’t grab the Australian public’s vote. It might have been interesting to see how they did, had they made it. Road Salt was the song Pain of Salvation were hoping would be their Eurovision entry. But, like Voyager, the band didn’t gain enough votes to represent their country. |

We, Turkey, participated with this rock band a while back. I figure Voyager would also represent their country with a similar song, instead of a overly progressive one. |

Didn't Tobias Sammet's Avantasia also give it a go for Germany a few years ago, but also fail to win the national vote? Given how they generally tend to do, they should have just let him enter! Edited by Jared - May 15 2022 at 06:04 |

Here it is:
I can’t say I’m surprised it didn’t win. It attempts to be both their own sound, and a more poppy Eurovision sound, and succeeds at neither (in my opinion). |

I love that! My guess was somewhat right. I should've said a more poppy rock, unlike our Mor ve Ötesi's pure rock song. I love Voyager BTW. And thank you for sharing this song! |
