Very much inspired by Paul's German personal top list, I've got this idea for an Italian top 12, and surely best with one album per band to give good possibility for as many bands as possible.
So, beginning with mine in unranked order:

Alphataurus   Alphataurus  (1973)

Area  Crac!  (1975)

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso   Io Sono Nato Libero  (1973)

De De Lind   Io Non So Da Dove Vengo…  (1972)

Il Balletto di Bronzo   Ys  (1972)

Le Orme   Felona e Sorona  (1973)

Metamorfosi  Inferno  (1973)

Museo Rosenbach   Zarathustra   (1973)

Premiata Forneria Marconi   Per Un Amico  (1972)

Procession   Frontiera   (1972)

Quella Vecchia Locanda    Quella Vecchia Locanda  (1972)

Quella Vecchia Locanda    Il Tempo della Gioia  (1974)

Semiramis   Dedicato a Frazz  (1973)

And hardly avoiding to add:

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso   Darwin!  (1972)

However one might want to define Italian Prog.

Now I know very little about Italian prog, but one band I really like are Deus Ex Machina, particularly the Cinque album.

I'm not very familiar with spaghetti prog, so I'll have to pass on this one, but it's good to know I inadvertently provided the inspiration for David's list. I've still got my hands full at the moment with my Krautrock and Dutch clog prog blogs, so it could be awhile before I dip my toes into Italian prog too. Addio per ora. Embarrassed

Hi,

Weird ... how do you listen to spaghetti? Confused
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I'm fond of Accordo Dei Contrari's Kublai (2011) myself.

I'm not sure, it's that simple, Paul. I know it's ment as fun, but I surely think it's best to avoid that kind.
