Well, it's obviously poorly written as a review goes, but I don't spot anything too suspicious.  It's on my watch list.

What do you think is sus about it? It seems to be the opinion of a lot of listeners that I’ve come across. I don’t think I’ve come across anyone yet who doesn’t think it’s the best of the Mangini albums. It is routinely compared to Awake and Images and Words by a lot of people commenting on it. I haven’t listened to the album myself, but I have quite high expectations for it, as a lot of people compare it favourably to the first Mangini album (which definitely was reminiscent of Images and Words).  This review is a little hyperbolic, and not wonderfully written, but I don’t think there’s anything particularly suspicious about it. 🤔

mainly that it's very poorly written, and the account only has that one review to its name. A few reviews with very similar writing styles have popped up from similar accounts for A View From the Top of the World

^ FYI here are the users with only 1 review for the new DT album:

No big deal, really, except maybe for the last two users, which were created at the same time. Coincidence?

Another short and vague 5 star Dream Theater from an account made today

I don't see any abuse here, you can say it's poorly written, but not abusive in any way.

It’s probably rating manipulation, which seems like a very Dream Theater fan type of thing to do

A new release always generates a lot of "activity" when it first comes out. High ratings during the first couple of months slowly average out over years. So something that starts off at 4.40 will find itself normally under 4.00 within the first two years. These singular reviews from reviewers that come to the site and disappear will eventually become statistically insignificant and won't even be noticeable after the album has had hundreds of reviews posted. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but these seem to be quite rare.

Where this is more of a concern, statistically speaking, is if an obscure album has a high rating from a bunch of one-review reviewers and hasn't had reviews from the "more permanent" community of reviewers we have here.

Again, I agree, but when famous beloved bands release new albums, all sorts of raters and ratings appear
specifically for that and then those users disappear. Some of them start endless arguments how it is possible their beloved band gets average ratings or so.

So what's the band that gets high ratings and super-positive reviews from one review reviewers. TongueLOL

I can't remember anymore. It was a Brazilian band. Maybe Apocalypse or Sagrado Coração da Terra?? My memory isn't what it used to be. It was more than just one-review reviewers. It had a lot of 5-star single ratings only. I think the band got cleaned up several years ago and the number of ratings for each album dropped by half or more. Maybe someone else here remembers?

I do wonder if some of these reviews are from bots or something. They're so stiffly and robotically written... it all just comes across as unnatural LOL "This band made this album. It was released in [insert year here]. The vocals are solid. The bass is good. The guitars are great. The album has 7 songs on it. The songs vary in pitch and volume throughout the album."

Wow -

Just barely acceptable, and what's with the numbers game?   There should be a Cognition Manifestation rule ... and a length limit, too.

It could be Google translate as well. When i've translated into languages i know nothing about i have been told that i sound like a robot! I think some just write crappy reviews so that their ratings are magnified without really caring about a review at all.
