^Hi Steve, it’s been a while. Hope you’re doing good buddy
Great pick on perhaps my fave Simple Minds album. I really dig that post-punky leg of their career where you can hear all of the upcoming colourful melodies that would lead them into stardom..but wrapped in a darker and spikier dressing.

Yesterday:
Klaus Johan Große - Du Bist So Symmetrisch
ELO - 2
Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges - Clube Da Esquina
Elton John - Honky Chateau
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Paper Mâché Dream Balloon
XTC - Skylarking
Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans
Alan Parsons Project - Tales Of Mystery And Imagination
“The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

I listened to Trick of The Tail today. That album is fan-tas-tic! The title track, Squonk, Ripples, Mad Mad Moon. All of them great, flawless. I think I like it better than The Lamb. Why couldn't they do songs like the title track as their pop music, it works. Instead they did, Invisible Touch.

Reminds me of a quote from Phil in a Genesis documentary. Something like, “we always wanted to write pop songs, we just weren’t that good at it yet”. Which helps explain the progression from, say, Harold the Barrel to Trick of the Tail to No Reply at All to In too Deep.

Well Steve is killing it the last few weeks. :)

Not many whole albums on my end lately, but I’ve managed a couple of late night listens done right.

Galahad — Sea of Change
Whitesnake— 1987
Vangelis — Bladerunner 25th ann edition
Marillion— FUGAZI (2021 remix)
Frank Sinatra— Point of no return (SACD)
Metallica— Master of Puppets (2016 SHM CD)
Iron Maiden— Senjutsu ( I am obsessed with this album. I play it a ton lately. I feel it is their best 21st century album by quite a bit. This band has no quit in them. I love their longevity. Nobody competes with them. )
