Canadian sticks??

I'm intrigued. What exactly are 'Canadian Sticks'?

Canadian sticks are used to help a person stand up, much like crutches with toques on them and ski poles with toques on them (those are also used in Canada).

Rather not not much like how French Fries are not called French Fries in France, in "Smashed Canada" we don't call them Canadian Sticks, we ryely call them "Hoser Sticks", or, alternatively, "Tipsy Sticks". But Tipsy sticks are more for the youth who haven't yet learned how to successfully get really drunk.

This is what a hoser stick looks like. Usually they come in pairs:

They act like crutches when one has drunk one or two many cases of beer. More than that and we just pass out. Some of the more athletic drunks put on "skates" (used to help one balance on ice, which really helps when quite drunk) and use those upside down to slap a disc (called a "puck") with them on an icy surface. When really drunk, they use them in the traditional manner on the ice with the part usually used to support the shoulders at the top (as in the image) and knock the "puck" with their skates. This drunken ice sport, sometimes known as "hockey", is quite popular in the most chronically inebriated provinces of Canada. We also have a non-ice sport for drunks called floored hockey. I like iced hockey with a chilled martini, but that is not so Canadian. Usually iced hockey involves a stick, a puck, and rye whiskey with two cubes of ice in a glass. ;)

I understood them to be 'crutches', I guess I was trying to understand the tie-in to Canada. If they were of a specific design that made the association or if it's more of a cultural reference. It's the first time I've ever heard crutches referred to in that way.

Despite this, forearm crutches are still referred to as Lofstrand crutches in many parts of North America. They may also be referred to as ‘Canadian’ crutches, possibly because of the design’s popularity in Canada.

In the USA, forearm crutches still seem less popular than the underarm or ‘axillary’ alternative.
