I do worry about you sometimes. In the film, which is one of my very favourite films of the past decade, it is
"she" who is the alien and luring men for sinister reasons.
A divisive film I should read the novel that it's based on.

Don't worry! Imagine that I'm the superior alien. LOL

BTW, JD had better allow multiple votes as I voted for suitkees' nomination which was my second favourite among the optiions. Even if single votes will be the case this once, I'd want my vote to go to Lorenzo's song.

It is said in the first post though that there's only one vote this time for the top choice. Veterans of this series may still want to read the manual. Tongue

Yeah, JD made it clear indeed. After getting my BioNTech doses, something happened to me. Are the conspiracy theorists right? ConfusedLOL

Anyway, I have no problems with this round or the prospective ones being this way. I just want my single one to go to Lorenzo's song. I gave it to suitkees' thinking that I'd be able to cast 3 votes.

I am a disruptor, no doubt about that.
I chose my rules for efficiency sake. Two videos each, makes you think carefully about your choices.
(not everyone got it I see)
One vote each, that's fair democracy in action.
I wasn't trying to upset anyone's sensibilities.

Quite a few interesting songs there  but chose 'Bermuda Traingle' by Mac....that one and 'Hypnotized' always had a spooky atmosphere for me.

Only got to listen to the nominated songs and not the rest of the suggestion, but it was - again - a good listen; I quite like most of the songs. Was I in a more theatrical mood, Steve Vai and Klaus Nomi would be contenders, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Billy Thorpe song and the uplifting track by Eugenio Finardo (but, did the aliens bring him back? The story doesn't tell...). Quite like Marek Bilinski & Bank too: makes me think a bit of the Hungarian Omega!
But with 34°C outside I should not move too much...

My top three are Cat Stevens (I didn't know this one and it is a very good, melodic and engaging song!), Tom Rapp (I should explore more of him, this one has an interesting Bowie quality over it...) and Gnags (wonderful build up towards a great REO Speedwagon-like melodic rock&roll - must be a live favourite of this band!?).
Since we have just one vote, it'll go to Cat Stevens' Novim's Nightmare, for its sheer beauty!

Mea culpa!  I immediately start to think of potentials once I see a new topic, and we've had so many with three votes etc that I forget that the rules are not static.  Will try and pay more attention next time (I think I've said that before, but I can still try and improve and actually do it).

The one thing I would say is that for you to vote for your own choice, if it's one only allowed in a poll, kinda would defeat a purpose of a poll, if everyone followed suit.

Personally, in general, I prefer to have three votes as this gives us all more chances of being nice to each other and appreciate all the exciting stuff posted. Still Cat Stevens has two votes already, yay and thanks!!

However, being a scientist I love experiments and not taking stuff for granted, so I am very happy that JD tried out something else for a change.

Here's my top three:

1. Cat Stevens - Novim's Nightmare  Even though I'm fairly familiar with most of Cat Stevens music, this one was unfamiliar.  Maybe it's a bit of an unfair advantage, but I found this song quite captivating and more heartfelt than many of the selections this time.  It seems the "corniness" level was quite high in many of the selections this time, and it was nice to have something more serious.

2. Marek Bilinskiki & Bank - Opowiesci kosmiczne - This was a nice, solid selection that I really enjoyed, and it seemed to be more serious and not so cheesy.

3. Gnags - Fra en Fremmed Planet - This one was also enjoyable, especially in the first part of it before the vocals kicked in.  Not that the vocals were bad or anything, I just found the instrumentals to be really great.

Now, I typically like the cheesy factor to some extent, but many selections tipped the cheesy scale right off the chart.  I also like a lot of the selections, namely Tom Rapp and Steve Vai.  I'm usually not a fan of a lot of Vai's solo albums, but this was different from what I have heard from him.  He definitely applied his years with Zappa's band to this track you would almost think it was a Zappa tune, but it also seemed to follow the ideas of the Zappa song "Inca Roads" which is also a song about UFO's and aliens:

Alright everyone...my turn.
Firstly, thanks to everyone for participating.
Secondly, as I said before, I like to swim against the current sometimes.
Thirdly, I could argue that three votes just spreads the averages across a few more selections, but I don't feel like doing the math to prove my point.
Feel free to recognize any and all selections you feel appropriate.

I have to go with siLLy puPPy and Steve Vai - Little Green Men for this one. It has so much going on and really made me feel Outta This World.
Honourable Mentions to :
Keldian - Starchildren (Shadowyzard)
Air - Space Maker (Cristi)
Both of which I really enjoyed.
And finally to Mica Levi - Alien Loop (Logan), for a top notch soundtrack from a movie I really love.

It was a great poll topic and lots of great music!   I have no problem with the individual running the post having different rules, I just sometimes forget what they were by the time the voting comes along.  There has never been a "you can't vote for your own song," rule, or a "you can't vote for something you already know," but I impose those on myself, since I want to learn from others and find new music.

I also thought of "Inca Roads," a wonderful piece of music!  And thanks for the nod to Tom Rapp (also to Kees for the same).

That "not voting for your own choice" was something that was debated a bit early on as a possible series rule, but while I was against voting for your own choice (I felt that just by nominating it one had voted for it in a way), I also felt that that could be left up to the discretion of each poll starter with their own set of rules (just my opinions, of course). In my polls I have made it an explicit rule that one doesn't vote for one's own pick -- mine tend to be humorously over-the-top with rules/ guidelines (well, humorous to me, may be infuriating to others).   As this was set as just vote for one, this is kind of unique (I rather suspect that it's not the first time a person only voted for their own choice). Maybe cstack will do one where the rule is that we only vote for our own choice. As long as all of the choices were listened to, since that is a written rule for this poll.... It becomes harder to tell when one only mentions one's own choice, but I like to try to take things in good faith even when I don't.

I enjoyed this round, I appreciate all of the nominations and I appreciate the comments that have been made by various people about music here. Thanks to all.

Here's the kicker for this poll as far as I personally am concerned.
After all my listening and voting I happen to learn of this magnificent piece just moments ago.
I wish I had learned of this earlier it would have been my choice for sure.
Enjoy.
