I also haven't yet heard a Gentle Giant album. Hope to remedy that when I can afford to spend for pleasure again

I wouldn't call it embarrassment as such, but my ears don't like much recorded after about 1983. It's just the way it is.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I've never heard a jolly green Gentle Giant album either, although I have now listened to all of Van der Graaf Generator's albums, only to discover I'm apparently the only member of ProgArchives who doesn't like the Pawn Hearts album, so double embarrassment for me again. Embarrassed Embarrassed

I prefer Love Beach to Brain Salad Surgery and Trilogy, although that's been no secret for awhile now. Embarrassed

I don't get the Prog Metal thing, even though I've sincerely tried.

Geez...where to start??
1 - I got rid of some of the best prog albums I had when I got sucked into the CD craze of the 80's
2 - I also quite like Love Beach for the most part, even though it has its stinkers and production flaws
3 - I have tried and tried but I can't get into IQ or many of the so called NeoProg stuff
4 - VDGG just doesn't resonate with me either, and I've given them lots of listens
5 - I'm an unabashed ELP Fanboy (See #2 above)
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

it's not really a secret with me: Rush leave me completely cold. I really have no idea why so many people like them.

interestingly many of those people who love Rush don't like Van der Graaf Generator (who are one of my favorite bands) at all. it appears the two bands are just not compatible

I only like a handful of 20 minute "prog epics" ( CTTE, Supper's Ready, Scheherazade, Tarkus & a few others)
Beyond that I generally like my prog 10 minutes or less.
(sorry, please don't kick me off the site! Unhappy
