I don't mind if Pete Pardo's Sea of Tranquility album rankings disagree with mine. After all, I'm used to people disagreeing with me here. Wink

you have forgotten Relics and Masters of Rock
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I thought Relics was a compilation album and I haven't heard of the Masters of Rock album before.

Relics is a compilation of non-album songs, so it is essential Floyd. Tongue

^ Thanks. I've included some of the non-album songs from Relics on my Piper at the Gates of Dawn playlist, including Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, but I'll take another look at the Relics album anyway and see what songs I might have missed. Smile

I vaguely remember Wind of the Willows. Back to the original topic here, DSOTM incarnates and consolidates Floyd's psychedelic knack, with songs like Money and others. Syd WAS PF incarnate. Since Syd's departure from this planet, PF have lost, thru the years, the gist of renewing their exquisitely psychedelic legacy. They moved away from Syd's original dream and became more and more pop. There will never be another Syd Barrett, no matter how hard Gilmour tries.

^ As far as I'm concerned, I love so much more what Gilmour has brought to the band. Even though I enjoy the music they have done through all of their eras and line-ups, I doubt they would have become my favourite band ever if Syd had stayed instead of having Gilmour take over him.

PF was never a "mainstream" band (for whatever that term is worth). People who don't appreciate Syd don't appreciate psychedelic music, it's as simple as that actually.

again, Gilmour has never tried to be Syd or make people forget about Syd, I've never heard, read or seen David talk badly about Syd. I don't know what you're talking about. In fact David helped Syd with Madcap Laughs (Roger did, too).

YOU don't know what you're talking about dude. If you don't know the facts, then don't comment.
IT IS WELL-DOCUMENTED that during the June 5th, 1975 Abbey Road Studio reunion of PF (the recording session for Wish you here precisely!), when Syd Barrett made an unannounced visit there, Wright thought Syd was a friend of Waters', Waters didn't recognize him at all and GILMOUR PRESUMED SYD WAS AN E.M.I. STAFF MEMBER !! In simple words, NONE of the other Floyd members recognized their "beloved friend" Syd Barrett !! Syd was obviously very sick, had lost all of his hair and was overweight, BUT for a bunch of long-term "friends" NOT to recognize him or even ask Syd who he was, is TOTALLY and INSANELY UNACCEPTABLE on behalf of Gilmour and Co. !! When I saw my old high school mate after 30 odd years, my mates and I immediately recognized him despite his baldness, sickened complexion, and his overweight state!! Yeah, nice "FRIENDS" Syd had alright !!!
So, before you comment any of my posts, get informed of the facts:)!!!!!!

no need to be rude and arrogant.
Considering he looked totally different, it's no surprise they did not recognize him at first.

YOU sir (better ??!) are rude because you jump to conclusions, don't fully and/or grasp other posters' comments and you don't base yourself on sound facts when you post.
Oh, by the way, Syd's PF "friends" NEVER recognized Syd before AND after he left !! FYI :)!
