Not according to Sean and I. If you like the site, all good and well, but obviously others don't.

I don't know why Paul is promoting SoT either, you'll have to ask him. You're his buddy, he's gonna tell you.

Well, for a guy above 40, (I'd give him between 55 & 60), he's still got hairs (and plenty), which is a lot more than many can say.Evil Smile
He should fix that tooth, though. LOL

This said, I just quickly ffwd through his Renaissance appraisal and find him indeed fairly shallow: not only is he not sure about what he's saying, he's reading the tracks or participants (he's even mentionning drummer Slade - instead of Sullivan)  and almost totally disregarding the ex-Yardbirds line-up (does he even own them at all?) not even showing the albums, as opposed to those crappy 80's and 00's albums, which he obviously owns.

How can someone knowing so little about a band's embryonic days can be assessing them correctly? Dead

It's not just a question of tastes (and publishing them), but a question of credibility:
- I mean the Yardbirds "were still looking around and trying to find the Renaissance style"?? Shocked Looks like the Dunford-Haslam duo never tried any further in that case, because they owe everything to the MkI line-up.
- Tout one of the best bassist? Weeeelllllllllllllllll, he owes eveything to Cennamo.
- AFAIK,Tatcher wasn't involved in the band in the early days.

I'd hate to hear his appraisal of other bands.
I've been watching his videos for quite sometime now, and what I have thought about based on many of his comments on his "lists" is that he does not have intimate experience with all of it.
Especially the albums in his list that are less than popular, those are the ones he has not much to say about in detail.
We all own "krappy" albums but because we own them we know why they are krappy, rather than going to the WWW to find out, which is what I think he might be doing in some cases. Now buying all these albums in CD format is super cheap....It would make sense if he goes ahead and spends $10 and buys 6-8 CDs of a band to legitimize his claims. I don't have a problem with him reading notes, for him to review a band like Yes with so many albums you would need notes. It's the content I have question on, it seems too basic and no details with his critique of certain albums.

But I guess in this age of the internet......it must all be true. LOL

To be fair, I'm sure that SoT is a good site for someone just getting into prog rock as it's not very detailed and the videos would be a plus. But for old hands like us, I don't think so.

The Least We Can Do is listen to what Pete Pardo has to say about Van der Graaf Generator, which will be coming up next, while there's Still Life in this thread. Smile

It's a bit of fun, he's not setting the world on fire, but he's promoting prog whether it's the music, his youtube channel, or SOT. To my mind we should be supporting him rather than dissing him. There's few enough of us out there and we can all use all the support we can get. And really going after his hair? God I wish I still had some.

Oh I see a pattern. Those with hair be against. Those without be for. Hmm.

Now the thing is that psych Paul brought the site here. We didn't go on an expedition and decided to not knock down the site. Once presented here it's fair game

For the record, I'm only joking about his hair. Some of my best friends look like they just came out of 1975. It's a musicians curse.

@ Paul
first 4 places I get it but starting number 5, I disagree.
Innuendo, as much as I like it, ahead of 70s albums Confused, no way.
The album with Paul Rodgers is too high and ahead of Jazz and The Game?! Confused Again, no way.
Jazz is too low, there are some fantastic rockers on that album, those songs alone make me rank it much higher.

I would put Hot Space ahead o the album with Rodgers and Made in Heaven. There, I said it. Big smileLOL

^ That's fair enough. You have your opinion and I have mine, and I know you're not a big fan of the Made in Heaven album. At least Pete Pardo & I pretty much agree on the Top 4 Queen albums, as well as Hot Space being our least favourite album. Smile
