My pet hate is bands that name themselves after well-known prog albums or songs, I mean, there's even a prog band called Supper's Ready ffs. Unless you're a tribute band then think of your own name.

I thought Supper's Ready WERE a Genesis tribute band. Smile
Exactly.
There's one in PA and they don't appear to be a tribute.
A-ha, so there really IS a Genesis tribute band called Supper's Ready, and they're a spaghettified version of Genesis from Italy. Smile

spaghettified? you were trying to be funny nd ended up rude.

"Spaghettified" is actually a real word. In theoretical physics, it's what happens when you get too close to a  black hole and get stretched out like a string of spaghetti. Dead

There are also spaghetti westerns, something to be proud of, so why not spaghetti prog? (although we have already RPI)

That was my line of reasoning too. No one's offended by the term "spaghetti western", so why would anyone be offended by the term "spaghetti prog"? Smile

If anything, "Krautrock" is a more offensive term than "spaghetti prog", and yet no one gets their knickers in a knot over the term "Krautrock" Smile

If "Krautrock" is now considered an acceptable term for German Prog, then why not "Frog Prog" too, for French Prog? Ermm

There is spaghetti prog. The Secret Chiefs 3 have made a career out of soundtrack sounding mixes of Middle Eastern folk music and spaghetti western sounds mixed with all kinds of other world influences.

both spaghetti western and Krautrock was used in a derogatory way.

At first, yes, but now they're generally accepted and used terms.

exactly... I'm not even remotely interested in hearing one note of his music. Dead

Any band or album with the word "Prog" is an immediate turn off. As a matter of fact, any musical style incorporated into a band or album name triggers thoughts of hot garbage.

Hehe, I like your "please"... but no I won't, because I think he was thinking of the cinema reference I mentioned and furthermore I prefer to think it was not a matter of disrespect and further furthermore I don't want to become an intermediary in your "couples disputes"... Tongue

just kidding.
But I'd lie if I said I wasn't annoyed by the use of  "spaghettified Italian prog".

They started out as a proggy goth metal band. THey should've called themselves The Gathering of Ghouls os something. You know how it is. Some things just don't appeal to us for whatever reason. That's the case with this one.
