And that, nostalgically, reminds me of the American adaptation Star Blazers and it's full on cheesy theme; |

I somehow naively expected to surprise a bit with Robotech.. (a difficult task having you and the other guys in the poll). Here it aired every year for some time. The "2014" thing I don't fully grasp it yet.. Wikipedia says it was a crowdfunding project for a pilot episode that remains abandoned. Anyway, the video is just amazing.. it is basically the same that I saw back then but the graphics are totally enhanced and have new awesome scenes.. ![]() Space Battleship Yamato I'm sure I saw it.. it just I think here didn't aired as regularly as others. But sure I liked it too! Glad you commented on 'Band of Brothers' too, and glad you like it (I'll do my listenings soon). And yes, memory lane, I don't miss opportunity to go there! ![]() Three more and I stop it. The 80's here in Chile, before cable television, were like a golden era for 'kids' in terms of cartoons and animated series. Lancelot Link "Sankuokai" He-Man "Snake Mountain Theme". This one I love.. it played everytime a panoramic of the Snake Mountain showed before passing to the bad guys machinations (I would love to find a video that showed just that, but this one sounds great! I absolutely love this kind of stark incidental music!). Hmm, I think this one could well creep into nomination… ![]() ![]() Here's the image: ![]() Edited by Machinemessiah - July 15 2020 at 12:23 |

^ I remember Robotech. In the U.S., it orinally was an adaptation of three different Japanese anime series. The first season was based on the Japanese series Macross and was my favorite.

The Leftovers - Max Richter. Probably the best TV show music I've heard, great show too.

As I've said in the past, except for a select few artists, I hate country music, mostly because it is all just assembly line, corporate music. However, I do like the artists that capture the indie vibe and fit under an alternative-style country or indie-folk. It has become my second favorite genre next to progressive music, and has been for a lot of years now. There are many bands out there that can fit under that category and there are a lot that are ignored while others are quite popular. I'm glad you like what I have presented and I'll hopefully post more of the same, but since I like quite a wide variety of styles, these threads have been quite valuable to me with all of the suggestions from the people on this thread.

The Leftovers was one of the best series in this decade. There was also a lot of great music from that show that really captured it's feel and this is a perfect example of it. The one I posted was the theme for the last season, and was interestingly cheery compared to the overall feel of the series, but the lyrics by Iris De Ment were a perfect fit.

Micky - Love the Sopranos theme, in fact, it got me to look into the band more and now I'm a big fan of their's - Alabama 3. Even though it is not as noticeable on the Soprano's theme, they normally do this country-hip-hop-electronic style that I find quite enjoyable in some cases (but not always). If you are interested, here is their version of "Peace in the Valley" like you've never heard it before:
I also love the Barney Miller theme for it's cool jazziness and the great bass run. Unfortunately, I couldn't get your last video to play (not available in my country).

Snicolette - Lassie and Daktari were both childhood favorites of mine. My Friend Flicka, for some reason, I mostly ignored. I had to be home every Sunday afternoon to watch Lassie, though I didn't care for the Timmy and Lassie episodes so much. I had forgotten about Daktari until I accidentally ran into to it flipping through the channels a few weeks ago, and I exclaimed, wow I had forgotten about this one. My favorite out of your three would have to be My Friend Flika, though, as listening to the old themes now, they seem a bit contrived even if they were childhood favorites. Shame on me for losing that childhood wonder!

Raffi - I'm also, strangely enough, a big fan of Don McLean and had no idea "Vincent" was used for a TV theme in any country. But count on Italy to use such a passionate song for a TV theme. Italy is amazing for utilizing passion in their music and other media and art. I live the way he expresses himself when he sings, almost like he is improvising the lyrics as he sings, giving even more expression and meaning to his own original songs and even the covers that he does. Excellent choice!

Nogbad_the_bad - I love the retro sound of the Twin Peaks theme. I always thought it fit the odd yet atmospheric feel of the series which is what Lynch is well known for. As far as one of the most fit themes for a series, this would be it. Funny how I always think of wood paneling when I think of this series.

mathman - Mike Post - the king of the TV theme song. Out of these three I would have to also go with your favorite, The Rockford Files. Post had this way of creating a memorable hook and then developing an entire theme song around it, and the TV producers loved it. But so did the audiences. BTW, that Gilligan's Island spoof was silly, but I'm surprised they didn't use the closing theme verse during the heavier section.

The Anders - The Matador Theme is one I haven't heard before, but that shouldn't be surprising as most of my knowledge of TV themes come from North America and a few Italian ones. This one is quite tastefully done in a nice classical style, simple and comforting, which seems to match the tone of the clip we see in your video. Very nice.

jamesbaldwin - Was hoping for some Italian themes here. But these are definately iconic theme songs, two of my favorites back in the day with The Jeffersons and Happy Days. I took Monk a bit more serious though, even though the humor there was always spot on yet a little more tongue-in-cheek. I'm a fan of Randy Newman's music and would have to pick that one for the best of the three.

^ there's an Italian TV series called La Piovra. The music for the first season was made by Riz Ortolani (I'll post the credits theme) but Ennio Morricone dit the music starting season 2 and is brilliant. Just from those themes it's really hard for me to pick up a song.

^ Edit, forgot to mention before. I have heard that Riz Ortolani, but not much, and really love that.
Jorge: I like the He-Man music too, and the music of your other choices, I used to watch a lot of He-Man (grew up with it) Its interesting how many people went for sitcom music. Posting this comedy one did cross my mind: And I'm a fan of Matt Berry and considered "Beneath Me" from Toast of London. Or, something from Snuff Box, AD/BC: A Rock Opera, or Darkplace.
