I suppose we can count ourselves lucky that no one posted any K-Pop stuff... I remember seeing some videos when I had lunch at a Korean fast-casual place in Arlington. Unspeakably camp stuff!

I have never heard K-Pop myself.. never heard of it until fans of it supposedly hacked Trump's campaign stop in Tulsa and snatched up 100's of thousands of seats

I actually like the idea that we play stuff we really like but think others maybe won't... not sure whether you really like that outrageous stuff you're talking about, but I didn't miss things that are just more spectacularly bad... It felt right to me to look for stuff that I could like myself in that choice. Didn't have much success though.

Now I'm beginning to listen to all the songs put here, except for those I shared. It will be a long and definitely fun ride!

Nope. Almost done. Finished listening to the nominated songs, one of my choices was easy but I'll need some more time for the other two.

BTW, you can take the daily dose of your cringeworthy music, listening to this, which is probably the most ... (can't find a proper word here) Turkish rock(?) song you'll hear. And for us Turks and that can speak Turkish, its lyrics and the singer's diction are hilarious. Don't miss the awesome(!) electric guitar solo with an acoustic guitar, seen in the video. (The song name's translation is "I can't control myself".)

Dont forget to listen to "I Gufi - La Balilla", one of the most beautiful Italian Folk song!

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

I laughed a lot at seeing this video and posting others on I Gufi, Bud Spencer etc. They take me back to when I was 10 and I saw them with my "brianzoli" parents. My two grandmothers and my two grandfathers were all born in Brianza.

Firstly, I'll share my reflections on the songs that are not nominated. I skipped some, after hearing for some seconds or minutes, as they were obviously uninteresting for my liking or disliking (yep, sometimes dislike also keeps one interested, haha).
I also won't be mentioning some of the ones that I already knew. It already has taken lots of time, but it was not a burden, one bizarre hell of a ride, haha. After this, I'll listen to the nominated songs again, and will post my favourites. Sadly, or weirdly, it seems like all of us could have nominated more interesting songs, judging from the out-of-contest ones here, haha. The Plasmatics - The Damned - Wow look at those razor vocals. Sharp but tasty! Gimme that pain & pleasure. :D Gram Parsons - In My Hour Of Darkness - Loved it, found it very tranquil. I like this kind of vocal arrangements and performances, especially. Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy - I already knew this and like the main melody with the keys a lot. Foreigner - Urgent - Tight as tights. Solid 80s rock tune. Saxophones, hmm, cool but not in the level of Men at Work's - Who Can It Be Now. Let me mention it here. I love a-ha - Take on Me, like I love tons of 80s stuff. I love Steve Perry's voice, but the song that Easy Money shared was not ok. :( Hatebeak - Hellbent For Feathers - A parody extreme metal band, I guess. Haha, awesome! Particle Man - Umm, I guess a parody of educational videos for kids. If it is serious, there's a problem here. :D SOAD song that TCat put, well I find it humorous and enjoyable, though quite sick, haha. David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose - Well, "tights" rock. I figure being there and seeing live should be fun. The Cure Shreds - LMAO. I love this type of humour. and a big LMAO to a-ha version too. And Purple Haze and others. Like I said, I love this type of humour. The first "shredded" song I heard was from a performance of Eric Clapton. Some people believed that it is an actual performance, LOL. I also like The Gonch, and that type of humour. It reminds me of the Bum Bum Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJfnOdVeHxg Goran Bregovich: O Bella Ciao - Well, I'm an anarchist who'd prefer left to right. I like lots of "leftist" songs, but somehow I always find this tune unpleasant. Bregovich version is at least tolerable, thanks to the instrumentation. Romina Power - Il Ballo Del Qua Qua - I'm sure If I had been a kid there , they could only havekept me there by force. LOL. Ted Nugent - Wang Dang Sweet Poontang and Fred Bear the Song - Loved 'em. Also, liked Stranglehold and WANGO TANGO, Free-For-All, and Tied Up in Love. Jane's Addiction- Ted, Just Admit It - Interesting. きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ - ファッションモンスター,Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Fashion Monster - Good music, interesting video. Oceansize - Walking in the Air - Sorry TCat, didn't like it nor found it creative or anything good to be praised. Samantha Fox - Touch Me (I Want Your Body) - Typical 80s song, and I liked it. Also Bananarama - Venus is good. I knew it, like many others that are interested in 80s music. Guesch Patti - Etienne - It feels like I heard this song LOOOOONG ago, anyway I'm not sure. Wild vocals, good song. Boys boys boys - Sabrina - Oldschool, uplifting pop. Just my thing. Long time since I listened to it. Thanks for reminding. A HA - TAKE ON ME - sh*tTYFLUTED - A very big LOL to this, too. This type of flute was compulsory during my middle and high-school education. (Thankfully, I'm musically talented, and could succeed without much practising.) Ahahah. the other instrument in the second half is annoying as hell. Henhouse - In the mood - I think both fun and well-done. A success.

Okay, too lazy to listen to them over again. And, I decided to divide my choices into 3 categories: cringeworthy and fun, that I already love, and discovered here and loved.
So my votes go to: 1st category: The Shaggs – Philosophy of the World 2nd category: a-ha - Take on Me 3rd category: RAH Band – Clouds Across the Moon Honourable mentions: Lena d'Água & Atlântida – vígaro cá vígaro lá “Weird Al” Yankovic – White & Nerdy Squirrel Nut Zipper – Hell And the boring as sh*t award goes to: Lana Del Rey – Video Games |

wow man.. did you like ..listen to all of them??? I did as well..but took a couple of days.
yeah. my votes might have been completely different if some of the alt selections had gone different directions and you gave a sh*t award away to Lana?? Far out... I thought I was a bit edgy.. but that takes the cake. Where I come from.. and live.. that voice alone could ..ummm... inspire the dead to stand at attention

Next time, I'll not do this. Especially if it is a serious poll, I'll divide my listenings to days. But this was "fun for fun", so I didn't feel "guilty" of not giving more chances to the songs.

man its always been fun for fun.. but yeah.. what did you really expect with a guilty pleasures theme. There are some seriously perverted and deranged people here. One reason i love the forum.. makes me feel normal. So I guess it was bound to go flying off the rails quickly and a very high rate of speed.

What? ^ Now you see how perverted I could be. I could even have gone further and said, "this was his original post, and he must have edited before I posted this!!!". |
