Are we supposed to vote for our favorite songs in this list...which would mean the posters have nothing to feel guilty about or are we supposed to vote for the worst songs to basically say yes...you should feel guilty and your prog card is being revoked?

Open to interpretation. That's why we encourage commenting after you vote. I think most will choose their three favorites for whatever reason. But certainly if you want to call out the guiltiest, you can in comments or vote. Edited by mathman0806 - July 04 2020 at 05:44 |

My three picks...
1. Squirrel Nut Zippers. Good song with a jazzy feel. Humorous video poking fun of religion. 2. The Shaggs. This song is completely messed up. Out of tune guitars, melody is sung out of time, and the musicianship sounds like toddlers playing. Out there for sure. I would be embarrassed if this was in my record collection. 3. The Osmonds - Playing R&R... never new. And what the hell is that effect at the beginning of the song after during chorus? Is that the Crazy Horses? Honorable mention RAH Band - I feel guilty listening to this. The dooooo doooooo synth sound is so cheesy and repeated so often, ick. Makes me want to take a shower. The bass solo is the saving grace of this song. Costumes are funny. Edited by Grumpyprogfan - July 04 2020 at 06:28 |

too funny... soundtracks? that is exactly what I was going to do to with my next poll so if you want to do the Tears for Ears.. I'll hit the soundtracks. Leaning toward TV show (and already had some killer ones lined up).. but might expand to movies as well. are you volunteering to do next weeks or has someone already claimed it.

did you get a chance to meet her... I would assume by that point in her career she'd be doing the chartered jet thing .. though wait.... times flies.. 86? She was just breaking into the stratosphere about then wasn't she.

discounting those songs I know... both love and hate
I had 2 immediately stand out grab votes... the Lana Del Ray song and the Osmonds doing another listen for the 3rd vote... was leaning on the Shaggs.. but wasn't solid enough like the first two to be first ballot votes.

Well, since some people posted videos of music for kids, I thought about masterpieces such as "44 gatti"! Anyway, good call about Bananarama (I should have thought about that one) and Guesch Patti. "Etienne" is actually quite a good song! Surprised no one thought about Toni Basil's "Mickey". Now doing a final listening before choosing my top three. I'll go for those I actually like, rather for the three worst of the lot. I'm not that masochistic! |

I thought I was next in the queue. I've just been waiting for my turn -- I said I wanted to do one early on. I volunteered weeks back to do an instrumental, but that got taken, so then I suggested instead that I'd do soundtracks in the Instrumental topic as I recall. I thought that was set for me to do from Lorenzo. I had hoped eventually to do both a Tears For Ears and soundtracks, I'm a big soundtrack collector, so I thought it would be a natural fit for me. Lorenzo added me to the team list with the soundtracks idea. I really wanted to do the soundtracks and had thought out how to go about it, but if you had that planned out already: INteractive Poll team Thread I'm not really getting how turns are decided, but I think a little more planning might help. If you want to do the soundtracks, fine even though I really wanted to (don't want to be greedy, it's just I already missed out on the instrumentals which I had said I wanted to do). Maybe I won't do one, I'd like everybody who wants to do one to get a turn as soon as possible. Edited by Logan - July 04 2020 at 07:21 |

ok... can we please stop rehashng that video via quotes...
I had a dream last night that involved chicken outfits, bearded men, and dancing a chicken dance naked on pool table... with Stranglehold playing full tilt on the jukebox... and I blame all of you for it.

cool!!! Lorenzo is in charge.. and decides of course but we just volunteer to do them. It can be easy to miss volunteers .. so I help with that. As I nearly did with yours.. Raff had seen your post and told me about it when I mentioned I hadn't seen anyone speak up for next week's poll

A soundtrack round is a great idea, a real challenge because there are so many great ones. After the guilty pleasure round, the catchy non-prog round idea seems rather redundant (the catchy prog round was fun so thanks for that), so let there be a soundtrack round.

So my three:
1. The Shaggs - Philosophy of the World. In the bad so it's good with healthy dose of sincerity and charm. 2. The Osmonds - Crazy Horses. Yeah, they rocked it with those backing horns. 3. Madonna - Ray of Light. One of my favorites from her and not at all a guilty pleasure. Now doing Karaoke to Like a Virgin... |

on that note.. perhaps that team thread might be a good place to speak up and reserve spots. Very easy to miss in the pages of the week's thread as I nearly did with yours.
You got next week Greg.. take soundtracks (TV, Movie, or both) if you want.. if not .. I"ll hit it when my next turn comes up and would limit it strictly to TV.. Movie can have its own I suppose.

If you want to one for next week, go ahead, maybe I can do do another one at a later date. And if it is the soundtracks idea, so be it. Maybe I can do another soundtracks one in the future. It might be better for me to wait until September before I take my turn. So go for it. |
