Interactive Poll # 666 - GUILTY!

Because of time constraints, I only considered the first three offerings from everyone, so don’t be offended if all 39 of the posts that some of you (looking at you Micky) posted don’t get mentioned here….. J.

Since there has been confusion about how people should be voting for the most embarrassing guilty pleasures or which ones I actually personally like, I will mention both.

Mathman – Absolutey loved The Plasmatics and am surprised I’ve never heard of them before now.  I found the video hilarious.  Donna Lewis was too AOR for my taste and that one would be the one I would be most embarrassed to admit.  Bullhorns was good for a laugh, and I love to listen to the oddest covers, but that’s usually only good for one time.

Micky – Not a fan of most hair metal, especially Ratt and others like them, so there is a vote for the most embarrassing of your lot.  My own personal experience with them is a fellow worker in Montana that claimed that he was the one to put them in the spotlight somehow.  Streisand is an amazing talent that I don’t particularly care to listen to, but at least she has talent.  However, I absolutely love the southern gospel thing like you, even though I am completely against religion, and am a huge fan of Gram Parsons (R.I.P) so that is a personal like.  Ted Nugent, however, I usually compare to a toilet flushing.  I used to subscribe to the NRA rhetoric about thinning out the deer herds since I used to be into hunting, but I have since learned that man is not as effective at that stuff as Mother Nature is, so I say let her do her job and in the meantime, Nugent can disappear.

Raff – Bronski Beat used to intrigue me, especially with his vocals, but I was always a bit indifferent about the music itself.  I do enjoy Spandau Ballet and I also love that song, so that is a personal and legitimate like for me.  David Lee Roth is one of those embarrassing likes for me, thought I liked him better with Van Halen and on his first EP where he sings a few standards, so that is the vote for embarrassing selection.  I did see Van Halen when they were first starting out and I will never forget that especially since the best thing about it was discovering Frank Zappa (that was the intermission music they chose to play, specifically the album “Sheik Yerbouti”).

Snicolette – Ahh The Monkees.  My sister was in love with them, especially Davy Jones.  I used to watch their show every Saturday morning way back when.  I wasn’t as familiar with the track you chose, but they are also one of my embarrassing admissions, so they get that vote.  I had heard that Nesmith song before and actually like and respect it, but it’s hard to beat out The Stone Poneys and Linda Rondstadt, so that one gets the vote for the legitimate like from your selections.

Shadowyzard – The Hamis track was very interesting and is one of those for me that I can admit will grow on me with more listens.  I’m going to skip the Baby Shark Dance because my granddaughter introduced me to that one previously.  The embarrassing vote will go to Dragonfire of Fire and that kooky Raging Horse song.  I get it and appreciate the humor there.  “Walking on Air” … I put that one on the list as an actual “love that song” vote because I have always loved the book “The Snowman” and also the animated version of it with that song on there.  Did you know that Oceansize (the band) did a version of that? 

Easy Money – A-ha’s song has been a little overdone for me, but its okay.  The embarrassing favorite for me is the Journey track and its also embarrassing that I used to be able to sing just like him, but now when I try to do it, I sound more like a frog.  The actual like for me here is “Tuesday’s Gone” believe it or not.  I have always loved that track and wished that L.S. did more songs like that amazing track.

Lewian – These are all songs that I unfortunately don’t have any story for as it is the first time I’ve heard them.  RAH Band was interesting and fresh to me, Subway to Sally was my favorite out of the three and I would have no problem calling it a personal favorite without embarrassment, however, the vibe of the Karat track is very pop and has the sound of something I would be afraid of admitting to others that I cared for it in any way, so it has the vote for the embarrassing track in these 3 tracks.

Grumpyprogfan – I like a lot of Joe Jackson’s songs, but I’m not that drawn to this particular one.  TMBG is a favorite band of mine already, and this is a good track.  But my favorite of the 3 is the one I was not familiar with by Dogs Die etc. and I definitely wouldn’t be embarrassed to say so.  I also love Weird Al, so all of those extras you posted are also favorites.  Not an embarrassing one in the bunch.

Jamesbaldwin – I wasn’t much of a fan of the first one “Ho Visto un Re” and so it would probably get the most embarrassing of the 3, while I was somewhat familiar with the humor of “Coro dei Pompieri” having known the humor of the pair of stars involved with it, Terrance and Bud, a popular team in Italy, though I hadn’t seen that particular sketch.   I Gufi was definitely the best of the 3 and my own favorite out of them all.

Rushfan4 – Samantha Fox is everything I am against with her disco music and fake persona, so that would be the embarrassing one for me.  In the meantime, Janet Jackson is the most real out of the 3, plus the video is great because Cartoon, so she wins out of the 3!  Not a big Twisted Sister fan, but they are at least better than Fox.

Dr. Wu – Familiar with all three of these.  A bit indifferent about all of them, though I do like some of the Go-Go’s songs, so they win.

I Prophesy Disaster – “Crazy Horses”.  I did know this song.  The Osmonds most unlikely track.  In the 90’s, I was listening to a alternative radio station, and they put this song on without saying anything about it, it was supposed to be a joke.  Well, apparently, they got so many calls asking who it was and what the track was that they had to announce it.  Turned out to be a lot of shocked listeners that day.  That’s the embarrassing one, even though I have always had a strange liking to that song.  Nik Kershaw has always been a favorite artist of mine, I didn’t know he had so much hate towards him, so I would have to say he is my vote for favorite and I’m not afraid to say so. 

Meltdowner – So, there is only one selection here, but it isn’t too bad, and it isn’t anything wonderful either, kind of indifferent with it, but after a few listens, I can see how it would get stuck in your head for better or worse.

Logan – I must say that I actually enjoyed everyone of these choices, even the shred, which I found hilarious.  I had seen the Beach Boys one before, it was also the first one I ever saw, but I never knew it was such a big thing.  I LMAO’d over “Maneater” and “We Are the World”, hilarious, but I can see where it would get old fast.  My favorite here is Bauhaus, and would admit it any day.

The Anders – This is one I wasn’t familiar with at all.  It was quite funny, but nothing that really screamed long-term likeability.  It did remind me of the chicken version of “In the Mood” (which I though about posting after hearing this, but decided against it as all of my extra posts were lost in the fray of excess videos by this time). 

Gentile and Giant – Oh yes, I remember “Love Missile”, one that I had willingly forgotten from years before.  Yeah, I would be embarrassed admitting that one was a favorite.

Cristi – Wow. Lana del Ray.  This was a total surprise.  This was the best of the best of them, and something I did not expect.  I have found a new artist to explore.  What an amazing song!  Love it.

Psychedelic Paul – Streisand and Gibb.  In a tie with Samantha Fox for the worst of the bunch.  So, yes it is in the running for the most embarrassing.  Kudos for admitting you like it, you’re braver than me!
