Okay, now for my third and final installment. Everyone hates this band, but no one hates them as much as working musicians in the south where their inevitable song request is usually met with well known smart-assed zingers that every working musician has memorized. It doesn't matter if your band has been playing funky jazz all night, someone is going to want to hear some skinerd.
BUT. there is one song I do like. If you can make it to the 3:45 minute mark, check out the excellent keyboard buildup with Al Kooper on the Mellotron and Billy Powell on the piano.

Beer good one John...^ and that ladies and gentlemen.. is our eventual poll winner... yes..  a guilty pleasure indeed I (among others) do not like the band one single iota...and yeah.. feel funny listening to them. Guilty that I might enjoy them which is a shame for they were an awfully good band...

I consider these three of many of my guilty pleasures, not just the songs themselves, but pretty much everything that all three bands do.  There are so many that I could list, but these three came to mind while doing this post.

1. Squirrel Nut Zippers: Hell

2. They Might Be Giants:  Particle Man

3. System of a Down:  Chic n Stu

Sorry micky, but you knew I would be a +1 on Ratt.  Why is this poll any different than the other polls?  I was basically posting guilty pleasures there too.  90% of my collection is "guilty pleasures".  Given I grew up on Golden Oldies and glam metal, and most days prefer AOR to Prog.  I might have to dig really deep to come up with a "guilty pleasure" that will please this crowd.

yeah... the Power of Ratt compels us however.. they were too good to really consider them a guilty pleasure even on a damn prog forum but I couldn't resist. There were always a number of us here that were fans... to be honest..even some of the haters were likely closet fans. Remember how Tony R dogged me everytime I brought them up. Yet  I always thought Tony liked them but enjoyed taking a piss on me (and everyone of course) LOLHeart

I've seen Journey live at least 10 times...all post Steve Perry.  That being said, they are on PA and don't count for this poll.

BTW, will we vote the "guilty pleasure songs" that we like, or that we find like "ahh, this is a good and courageous coming out"? My votes and perhaps choice of song would differ accordingly.

Sounds like they may have stole that from The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction....hmmm are they another guilty pleasure or required listening?

Up to Geo but suspect he is of the spirit of the polls in general..  pick what you want.. vote as you want. What matters man.. is what we are doing now.. having fun, tossing off songs with no shame like we were 15 years old again... and checking out some things we may have never heard before.. and even better. .stuff we may never want to hear again.  LOL

Doh! I forgot Journey was on the site, mostly for their first two albums pre-Steve Perry, but yeah, Rushfan got me on a technicality on that one.

Choice of song should be whatever you think represents you as your guilty pleasure. As for voting, vote as you see fit. It's like with Cristi's prog poll. I wasn't sure whether to go with I liked the most or what I liked the most that I also thought was catchy. It's up to you. There is no wrong.

I will say you are already a winner for all the stuff you have put out so far. I had no idea what I would be getting and it's definitely been eye opening.

Edit: I should say ear opening (and closing). LOL

I'll put forward this one.  Proto-Britney Spears.

and oops...I'll do it again.  This ear worm got me to buy the album...and I liked the video.

and thirdly to dig into micky's glam bag I will go with another of my favorite videos and one of my favorite 80's hair metal songs.  Motley Crue, Ratt, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister..all of these bands were early favorites and I guess that on a prog site the fact that I still like them make them a guilty pleasure.

Ok.  There's a theme here.  I hope I can be forgiven. From 1967, 1970 and 1967, respectively.  And the first is my (ab)nomination, the other two are alternatives for the theme.
The Monkees ~ "Shades of Gray"
Michael Nesmith & the First National Band ~
The Stone Poneys ~ "Different Drum"

obviously I love the Sone Poneys song.. but the other two.?

I never was a Monkeys/Nesmith fan.. other than a few uptempish rocking songs which I really did like.. and knew neither of these Clap

Shades of Grey? I do like the Piano melody and nice harmonies.. not really my style.. but definitely pretty good song.

Joanne - oh hell yeah...  now that is Micky style..  go with that one
Took out the videos for space purposes.....Thanks...The Nesmith sans Monkees is really kind of country, but I believe it was on the pop charts, which used to be more wideranging.  I had a feeling you'd like it, if you'd not heard it before.

I WOULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED TO POST THREE GOLIARDIC CHOIRS HERE ON PA,

ONE TAKEN FROM A COMIC FILM WITH BUD SPENCER AND TERENCE HILL

AND THE OTHER TWO SONGS IN MILANESE DIALECT, BEING TRADITIONAL SONGS OF MILAN, OFTEN SUNG IN CABARETS.

I'M SORRY THAT YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE HUMORISM OF THE TEXTS BUT I HOPE THAT YOU WILL HAVE ALL THE FUN AND I EXPECT YOUR OPINIONS.

One last thing, I hope.

I find this tune very sorrowful. It was already quite sad in the cartoon, but I cannot describe the sorrow I feel listening to this Gregorian chant version. I don't remember feeling this sad for a production intended for kids, other than while reading "The Little Match Girl" when I was a small child.
