^^ I wish more people could hear that Grits album. It’s long out of print, and apparently the estate of Rick Barse has asked for it NOT to go back in print. Plus Cuneiform is particularly vigilant (and for good reason) about keeping all their albums off places like Youtube. So it’s hard to come by. But it’s a doozy!

Indeed such a fun album! full of humor and some outstanding playing. I had no idea that the late Mr. Barse wasn't interested in a reissue for it. I also have Rare Birds but never got their final album which came out after his passing.

Sauna is a fairly good descriptor actually. I think it’s to do with Denmark not really having experienced spring..and then what seems like a flick of the switch..and we get 25 degrees in the shade But yeah normally that doesn’t stop me..I turn on my stereo and play music until I hear the floor or ceiling making noise (ie neighbours are fed up with Krautrock already by 10 o clock at night)...but it doesn’t work!!! I spend a whole weekend trying to decipher what exactly was wrong. I could hear a little music but 75% was just noise. Finally the penny dropped: I need new cables. Then again I’ve been using the same ones I once bought for my very first stereo rack some 25 years ago. Biggest mistake though? I “came to my senses” with regards to headphones and pretty much sold most of them off...completely forgetting about Danish summer. There’s only one kind of headphone I can wear in this heat..and well I sold that badboy a few months ago Last night I poured a couple of litres sweat into my Hifiman by way of: Siouxsie & The Banshees - Hyæna The Comet Is Coming - Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery Jethro Tull - A Alphataurus - s/t Canned Heat - Future Blues Steve Miller Band - Brave New World (Kow-Kow makes any moment a better one. Man I love that track ) Love - Da Capo Paul Butterfield Blues Band - East-West (Gotta love Mike Bloomfield on guitar!) John Coltrane - Sun Ship Edited by Guldbamsen - June 18 2020 at 07:51 |

Rain, rain and more rain! All welcome here on the, up till recently, parched dry farm and garden.. Not too much time for music but have been enjoying- The Orb's adventures beyond the ultraworld… Ha ha ha!! Steve Miller band- Macho City (side 2 'Circle of love'.. side one is alright but nothin' special) Little Feat 'Feats don't fail me now' & 'Time loves a hero' Ozric Tentacles 'Waterfall cities'.. a new one for me, not so taken on first listen but it has really grown!

This week: Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your WeaponThomas Dolby - The Golden Age of Wireless ("Airwaves" is still the only song that grabs my attention.) Space Art - Trip in the Center Head (An overlooked album on the overlooked Prog Electronic genre.) Gong - Gazeuse! Boston - Boston (Always a joy to listen to this. A good thing they were not successful in Europe, it's impossible to hear on the radio ) Level 42 - The Pursuit of AccidentsKrautwerk - Neuling Haken - Vector Kingcrow - Eidos (First listen. One of the best sounding Prog Metal albums I heard.) Nik Kershaw - Human Racing Ben Levin - Jelly Mound Terpandre - Terpandre Manfred Mann Earth Band - Solar Fire La Coscienza di Zeno - Una Vita Migliore Emmanuel Booz - Le Jour Où Les Vaches... (I didn't know this one Sagi. It's really interesting although a bit wordy for my taste. Sometimes it's better if you don't undestand the language, it's less distracting.) Dün - Eros (Something instrumental for a change ;) ) Heldon - Stand By Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced? (It always puts me off these 60's records with US and UK tracklists and even more confusing reissues with different orders and bonus tracks. I'm never sure if I'm experiencing it correctly.)Gong - Expresso II Television - Marquee Moon Mike Oldfield - Incantations Yes - Drama The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's... (First time I heard the mono mix and as I expected I liked it more than the stereo.) Push Kings - Far Places

Renaissance - Turn Of The Cards
The Tangent - A Spark In The Aether I really enjoyed both of these, and I love how my prog collection has been growing in the past few months. Both of these are very new to me!

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Great list buddy! I thought you might like Booz because of sheller's orchestral arrangements, it is kinda wordy and you're right it helps not to understand the lyrics sometimes. If you want try his last album Dans Quel Etat J'erre, it's regarded his strongest although I think they are all equally strong just different from each other. It's a lot more instrumental which very surprising since the guy doesn't play any instrument Of course you got to get into his vocal approach otherwise you won't like it, but anyway it's recommended. How do you like that Ben Levin album? I have only his Freak Machine album and although I remember liking it I can't recall when was the last time I played it... |

It's a short quirky Pop album (28 minutes long), it goes all over the place but it's very easy to enjoy. The first half is clearly better though. I prefer listening to the live version of Freak Machine on Youtube than the album. It's way more intense, especially Courtney's performance, and it doesn't rely on wacky production effects (I think it works for Jelly Mound but not so much for this one).

It was my first listen. I really enjoyed the female vocals and the way they interact heavy and smooth passages in each song. The guitar work is fantastic! This band is really worth checking out and this live album is a name your price download at bandcamp. Edited by MFP - June 20 2020 at 08:47 |

I only have their first album, actually I don’t know if they have another. I will check this live album since I’ve seen them in concert many years ago and it was excellent. |
