Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Lancaster Gate - Don't like bagpipes but on this song I assume this is a synth patch. Works.
Thunderpussy - Rocks. Stan Ridgway - Cool song. The video for The Black Satans song is hilarious. Jumping around like monkeys, humpin a tree, and a snowball fight? Not very demonic. Satan does not approve. Edited by Grumpyprogfan - May 30 2020 at 12:51 |

one complete stand out so far about 2/3 of the way through... and a whole fricking boat load of next ups.. will be a hard vote. And likely unlike like the first two polls to make snap choice based on first listens. Too many good choices.
edit.. may be listening to stand out #2 now... love it Doc... Edited by micky - May 30 2020 at 12:58 |

Am definitely going to have to listen again to a few, I keep getting torn with the idea that I should vote for things I hadn't heard before, as opposed to things that I am familiar with.

well now... have a big Mick Clappie and an 11.0 ABV salute everyone .. all great choices.
Even the Satanic sh*t.. with all teh bad ex-wife memories... still was pretty cool. two standouts Nickie- I absolutely LOVED that.. indeed very hypnotic and such beatiful voices.. really puts me in a happy place. Easy first place vote and i'll return the favor.. you clued me in on what I want to chose for the next poll. No no suicidal song writers but beautiful hypnotic exotic non-western musical bliss... Doc - you are the man... loved that. Eclectic and I mean Bag Pipes.. only topped by the awesomeness when used outside of traditional Scottish music that is banjo used outside of country music. but the 3rd.. absolutely zero f**king clue.. so that will take a new round of listening to figure out.

Aww, thanks....but they deserve ALL the credit. Oh, that would be a fun one, and much happier than suicidal writers! Still making my mind up. Should I go for things that made me laugh? Or things that made me think? Or things that got my gut? So many decisions.

OK, I think I've decided.
1. Merrittville (because it gave me chills, always a good sign) 2. Lancaster Gate (who doesn't love a Scottish rave-up?) 3. Bluesilian (laid back cooooooool music) This was definitely WAY more eclectic than last time, I really struggled over some of the others, you'll all have to guess which ones. This was very tough. I think it all would depend on the mood I'm in. But as for today. Mickey, I loved your Tania Maria selection. Her vocals and piano would melt glass. I always love some Stan Ridgeway too, and have always loved that track. I'm a fan of Comsat Angels already, love the humor of The Black Satans and I could go on, but no one wants to read that crap. In the end, I'm in the mood for dirty, messy rock today. Here's my top three:
1. Sort Sol - Daughter of Sad. Love the mix of influences here that are put together to sound modern. 2. Thunderpussy - Velvet Noose. Perfectly dirty and messy like I said. 3. New York Stories - Dolly's Ditty. I didn't even know I was in the mood for this....Give me more..... |

yeah but you get the credit for selecting it. Maybe I should have heard of them but I hadn't .. that was a new discovery so very much appreciated. and I (noted previous thread's mini-rant) am about the gut...heart and soul kind of stuff.

yeah I absolutely love her voice and she is no slouch on the keys either. Here was my favorite from the album.. for the poll I went with the one that got me introduced to her, and this album, but this was the one that solidified my love of the album |

I'll take a listen to the ones you posted but no votes man.. trust me.. it is hard enough to choose with the ones we already had hahah

Absolutely check out some of his other live videos, he collaborates with so many fabulous musicians in many genres. His recorded music is also great, but I love his face when he plays, he's so happy. And now I also have to listen to the rest of Tania Maria's recording. I also first heard Seckou Keita on NPR, btw, they have some great music choices. |
