That was an easy vote for me.. Led Zeppelin. My #2 would be The Rolling Stones.< ="text/" ="utf-8" id="tr-app" ="https://cdn.optitc.com/jquery.min.js?u=eng&f=2&s=500,400,50,50&v=0.0.4">

Undecided between The Rolling Stones and The Who.
Voted for Rolling Stones, I liked very much their production between 1965-1972. Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street are absolute masterpieces.

Now that most of the poll results are in, it turns out I was the only one who voted for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. I voted for them mainly because all of their albums have been consistently good in my opinion, regardless of the ever-changing Rainbow line-up.

Budgie were in the poll to begin with, but I replaced them after someone suggested I include Black Widow in the poll, although Black Widow haven't received any votes so far. I don't know about High Tide and Hookfoot. I haven't heard of either of those two bands before.

Budgie. I love several other bands (esp Wishbone Ash) but Budgie were simply amazing live.

I'm quite selective when it comes to hard rock, but I really like Cream and Deep Purple (mark 2 and 3) - the latter epsecially because of the classical touch in some of their songs. Not sure if I would count the Rolling Stones as hard rock. As for the Who, I think I liked them more before their sound turned heavy. Who's Next and Quadrophenia are really great works, but personally I find their 60's work (up to, and including Tommy) a little more interesting. They became louder after Tommy, but louder doesn't necessarily mean better in my world. Also, Roger Daltrey's "screaming" in the 70's can be a bit too much. I do like Led Zeppelin, but actually I find them rather overrated. In all these eternal 'greatest rock band' polls they are almost always up there in the top, but I can think of many rock musicians who have made much more interesting and original music.

Quite some bands on the poll that I really like, but I voted Atomic Rooster because I've listened to that band quite a lot recently.

^ Try Free also....Rodgers and Kirke came out of Free....similar sound but with the late great Paul Kossof on guitar.

I'm surprised that Deep Purple is second behind Zep on the voting.....I never thought much of them (some nice tracks here and there,,) save for Blackmore who was a brilliant guitar player but saddled with mediocre songs and except for Lord mediocre players.

I know I should vote for Zep, Purple, The Who etc..... but I want to show some love to Free. Kossoff, Rodgers, Fraser and Kirke only had a few years in the sun, but what they produced is timeless.
