If Tull can win a Grammy for best Metal/Hard rock album, then surely the Kinks belong as well!!!

In all seriousness, I get ya'.  But think about when they dropped "You Really Got Me" in in '64--they were pretty much the progenitors of hard rock, even punk and to some extent, metal.  And while they were never hard rock through and through, there's some genuine hard rock on pretty much every album in their very vast discography.

But no, overall, they don't stand alongside the likes of Purple, Heep & Zep in that category.

I've never heard of anyone "trolling" their own thread before. Smile

I'm guessing you didn't like the Christopher Lee video. Was it too heavy for you? LOL

Too many great bands... hard to choose my favourite, I especially like UFO (I remember I confused them with Free - because of the "flying" cover)

I will propose another one - even (proto?) heavy metal band Jerusalem with album from 1972 - hard rock killer!
It's hard for me to even choose the best track, they're all great.

I didn't realise Black Sabbath's "Snowblind" was all about cocaine until I watched the live video above.

Well, you can hear them say "cocaine" in the song. When I saw them play it on their farewell tour Ozzy said "cocaine" loud enough so that there was no mistaking it. LOL

Was a fairly big fan of Zeppelin in high school(who wasn't lol). And I consider myself currently a pretty big fan of Humble Pie, but... Wishbone Ash is solidly in my top 5 of all music arts in any genre. So that's where my vote goes.

Zeppelin or Sabbath. Either or.

Iron Maiden as I still enjoy listening to them and somehow they carved out something unique from a well trodden genre.

I'm voting for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow for having the most consistently good albums with some great line-ups of singers and musicians. Thumbs Up
