King Crimson - Island, classical album disliked by any. Melancholic theme with breathtaking compositions is utterly beautiful.
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother, not a single bad song on it in my opinion. + the live perfomance of Alan's psychedelic breafast is crazy (eating cereals and cooking steaks).
Genesis - We can't dance, yup I also like the pop era a bit.
Kingston Wall - III, many people think that this is the worst album from them. I strongly disagee, The Real Thing is as epic as neo-prog can get.
VDGG - The Aerosol Grey Machine - Into a game!
Mike Oldfield - Incantations - BIG album with four pieces. Love every single minute of it.

I like certain Yes albums that most seem to not care for (and sometimes even hate)such as Tormato, Big Generator and Union. Union is my least favorite of those but even with that one there's nothing really bad on it imo. People's criticism of it usually seems to be more about the way it was made than the actual music itself.

Oh boy. Yeah ... there are a number of unconventional ones that I listen to on occasion - sometimes out of nostalgia that few would relate to (Barnabas - Approaching Light Speed and its sequel) or to get a good laugh (Primus - Tales from the Punchbowl) or when I want something less edgy, with thoughtful lyrics, and with good production (Rush's Hold Your Fire), or when I want to hear sheer madness (Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn).

I can't believe I just read that here! I picked up all the remasters a while back in one fell swoop. One incredible band.

Brian Belew was an amazing guitarist. Good gravy, and that was a long time ago around the time of early Van Halen.

By the way, I do enjoy Adrian Belen's solo stuff. I found a bunch of tapes in bargain bins back in the 80s ... with songs like like Hot Zoo.

Yeah, their run was from '80 to '87, concluding with Little Foxes. That album's killer, too. More synth. It's different from the previous albums. Barnabas was anything BUT cookie cutter, and that's why they couldn't get any traction in the scene like, say, Petra. 

REZ Band has some phenomenal albums, too. I'm a sucker for a great female vocalist.

I couldn't get into Little Foxes. At that time they'd moved to OK and things just fell apart. Before they were in Illinois and Gary Mann had access to an amazing studio, and everyone seemed to be firing on all cylinders. It is a shame because for the 2 albums I mentioned, they were doing some cutting edge work. I like some Rez, some not so much. Colours is my fave, with Autograph, Colours, and the incredibly raw and catchy American Dream.

I have noticed some albums that others have listed that I also consider my favorites including Yes "Drama" and I also love "The Ladder".  Another unconventional album I love is Rush "Caress of Steel".
 
One I played yesterday that not many have heard of, and they are not progressive, but I still find that it is a favorite is Glassmoon's "Sympathetic Vibrations".  I also love Steve Miller Band's really early albums (before "Fly Like an Eagle") like "Children of the Future", "Sailor" and "Number 5".  These are not progressive but they are definitely unconventional.

Me too ... love Caress of Steel. Some really nice strums, chord progressions, and bass lines in that. Steve Miller is one that is difficult to pideonhole and I enjoy as well. Good calls!

Yeah, Barnabas had technically called it a day. Little Foxes was their "contractual obligation" album. The money was already there, but they had to furnish a record before they could vamoose. It's different, but they certainly weren't coasting. "Destroy After Use" is one of their best songs, IMO. 

For REZ, I love Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore and DMZ. I'm now delving into their later albums, and there's lots to love.

Cranking "Breathless Wonderment"...Brian makes those guys in Judas Priest sound like hacks! LOL

Yes, that's unconventional I've always enjoyed Fly From Here. It's a good solid album with some memorable songs. They've recorded weaker albums IMO. That said, it would probably be just outside my top 5 Yes albums.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Having little in the way of expectations at that point, I found Fly From Here to be a very pleasant surprise and an album I really enjoy under any circumstance.  

After that, I was excited to anticipate the release of Heaven & Earth.  However, that one left me completely flat. I can't really articulate why because the two albums, at least on the surface, really seem quite similar.  But for some reason, one reaches me an the other doesn't.

Interestingly, I had the exact same experience with Asia in the same time frame. I absolutely love XXX, and actually think it is far and away their best album.  But then I have about zero interest in Gravitas; it does nothing for me.
