Mine too, back when I was going through PA's top 100 six years ago. There were plenty of albums I didn't get, and some I still don't, but this one struck like lightning at first listen. Curiously the next RPI album I heard was Il Tempio delle Clessidre's second, that was getting some reviews at the time. It's probably why I have as much interest in modern RPI as I have in the classic stuff.

Since Thursday:
Weserbergland - Sehr Kosmisch, Ganz Progisch
Cosmic Ground - II
Renaissance - A Song For All Seasons (Never noticed before how great "Day of the Dreamer" is.)

The last several days I have mainly been listening to Mike Keneally & Metropole Orkest's The Universe Will Provide, an album I just got after having it on my list for years. It has smashed right through my musical cortex like an osmium brick hurled by an angry centaur. It's been quite a long time since an album made this kind of impression on me.

Yeah, I just discovered my #1 album of 2004
Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.

The opener, Charity Ball, gets me off also!  If I would have seen them in the 70s, I would have become their groupie and still be there....LOL

What did you think of Wilson's "To the Bone" album?  I have not heard it yet.

I’d just like to add that that Fanny youtube live thing mentioned above is really really cool. I’m looking more into this shiz.

I wish I could say the same for Nylon. I likes a couple of those, but it leaves me cold overall.  I'll have to try it again sometime.  The last track was the most moving to me.

My mom used to play the whole Innocent Man album quite often when it came out, so listening to it again was like a trip down memory lane. I love the title track, as it could fit right in 52nd Street, plus it's got one of the, possibly the, best vocal performance by Billy in his whole discography. I didn't get into the album as a whole (much like your scenario with Nylon), but my wife was really enjoying it! I will say though that you can tell he was having a great time recording it, nostalgic reflections of the music he grew up with, plus dating a supermodel doesn't hurt. It radiates positive vibes.

Past few days:

Cocteau Twins - Head Over Heels: Yep, my favorite of theirs fully confirmed. Some of the chord progressions during the latter half are rather dissonant and strange, which adds to the coolness.

The Tea Party - Splendour Solas: You can tell they were a young band finding their way at this stage. The Zep influences were a major factor, and the lyrics sort of combine Page's interest in the occult with some of Plant's bravado and Jim Morrison's sex and shamanism. I like how the acoustic instrumental ditty near the end segues into the last song, which is my fav off the album.

Sirenia - Perils of the Deep Blue: Boasts arguably my favorite album cover by a metal band, possibly anyband (grabbed this on vinyl which includes a poster of the cover). Love dangerous mermaids, maybe I should check out that Polish musical flick The Lure someday. Gothic Symphonic metal with some added aggression and a female vocalist with a high range and an unusual lilt.

Sirenia - The Seventh Life Path: Like Perils but on an even more epic scale. Every song is pretty long with lots of changes going on. That cool female singer is hitting some super high notes at times without using her head voice. She's an acquired taste, but a taste I crave at times.

Sirenia - Dim Days of Dolor: Less aggressive and with a new singer. Her operatic voice is technically sound, but rather rote for the genre compared to the previous girl. I found this rather boring.

Sirenia - Arcane Astral Aeons: Same singer, but the music is much better than DDoD, with some bursts of speed back in the mix and more variation musically and vocally. Like Xandria and Nightwish, but "meaner".

Cocteau Twins - Victorialand: Like new age yoga music that doesn't remotely suck. The lack of percussion gives this a nice "airy" vibe, like I'm floating around in the clouds. Really nothing gothic here, pure dream ballads.

Indeed.  I dug Streetlife Serenade a lot this time out. The Bridge and River were harder to get through.

I might have to check out that Sirenia band.  Sounds interesting.

Jury is still out for me overall, but there are some nice songs on it.  I haven't heard it enough to really form a good opinion.

Rundgren seems to be poking his head into a lot of my listens this week. Yesterday was The Tubes (Remote Control), today was Hall & Oates (War Babies) and now this. He’s everywhere. Hard toimagine a world without him. Not to mention all the fine albumshe made on his own and with Utopia.

Daryl Hall & John Oates | War Babies
Jandek | Brooklyn Wednesday
Jefferson Airplane | Takes Off
Jefferson Airplane | Crown of Creation
Jefferson Airplane | Bless its Pointed Little Head (live)
Jefferson Airplane | Live at the Fillmore East 1969

Airplane is really connecting with me today. Blows Against the Empire is a real head trip too.

Okay guys....while the earlier Beat Club appearance is arguably better, here is another collection of LIVE Fanny tv appearances....sound quality can be a bit patchy, but oh well.  Still cool.

The drumming in "Blind Alley"   !!!  Awesome.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out
Ad Maiora - Repetita Iuvant
Mike Rutherford - Smallcreep's Day (I'm still trying to get into this album, it's so uneven but samey at the same time, if that makes sense.)
Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea
